Losing is bad enough, but not getting a run sucks. Hopefully, you can pick the winner and recoup.
This is a great thread! Perfect timing too!
I'll be looking for your other threads today that say, "If you thought _________ was going to win today, you're a sucker!", ten minutes after the game ends.

My .02 is I wouldn't ever consider such a wager. While the investment is small and the return good, I'd rather throw that fin at the lottery and retire! Or be out the $5 anyway.
IMO, it's a bad wager same as the lottery. You could have that fiver or whatever amount working for you today rather than down the road.

Ridiculous asssertion.
Taking the argument in this thread to the same level, ANY bet in horse racing is a sucker bet. Why bet chalk when the chance of that horse injuring him/herself during the race is the same as a 99-1.
Every bet in horses is a calculation of risk and reward. The exchange for future odds is knowing that there is a chance the horse won't make the starting gate. That's the risk. The reward is carrying odds greater than Derby day.

You're predicting an injury? Will it be minor, career threatening, or fatal?
