Pegasus Day is Saturday at Gulfstream

The 13 race card is loaded with big fields including 8 stake races & a 11 AM EST post time. In the big race 7 of the 12 starters have banked over a million or more in their careers. The cost to attend is absolutely ridiculously priced, so I'll be playing from the comfort of my home. Weather will be in the low 70's which the horses should love. I'll be paying close attention to horses trained by Shug McGaughey, Martin Drexler, Mark Casse, Saffie Joseph, Kenny McPeek & of course, Todd Pletcher. Charley Appleby has a couple entered as well. Nice to see Frankie Dettori has a few mounts too.

I'm going to start capping the card this afternoon as it's a miserable day in South Florida with showers & in the high 60's.

I noticed that doc but we're watching Swamp People that we recorded the other night.

Happy wife, happy life so to speak.

Will finish capping tomorrow & I like a couple already including 2 @ Oaklawn. I also like an AE but need a scratch for her to get in. Nice to see big fields. If 2 or 3 scratch out, it doesn't screw the race like in Cali when they have a 7 horses in a race, 2 scratch & Baffert's got 4 of the 5 left in the race.

Sure would be nice to hit a race or two early. It's great for the psyche & the kitty.

#10 Battle of Normandy - 20-1 Again, like Spirit of St. Louis, how is he this much of a longshot?  Both Spirit and Battle of Normandy can easily hit the board

Gotta fade Nations Pride at 2-1.  Best horse in this race but no way should it be 2-1.  There is some decent competition I think

Pegaus World Cup Classic

#4 White Arbariio - 3-1 Chalky but I think this is the horse to beat. 

#11 Locked - 5-2 Again chalky but should finish top 3 in this one

#9 Mystic Dan - 9-1 Now this is good odds here.  I think has an outside chance of winning but I think he will hit the board.

#1 Mixto - 10-1 I don't like the #1 post I think had he got an inside post his odds would have been somewhere around 7 or 8-1. Jf he can overcome post 1 could factor

#5 Crupi - 15-1 Gotta add in a longshot to this race, I think if a big one is going to hit it will be Crupi.  Good for exotics

I will admit my horse picking is not great but just some brief research leads me to these.  Looking forward to your thoghts

I'm hoping we get a decent price on White Abbario as I like him as well. But....

I can't stop looking at #12 Power Squeeze. She ran 3rd to Torpedo Anna in the Acorn @ Saratoga in June last year, For some reason  TwinSpires doesn't have the replay of the race. In that race Anna won easily by 5, Leslie's Rose was 2nd by 5,& she's hasn't raced again since July & 3rd was Power Squeeze. Javier gets up on her & she's 2 for 2 with him riding. She's also won 6 of 12 & at 30-1 I'm interested.

F/M Turf I like #10 Sacred Wish

Watching Michigan Purdue basketball but will post some thoughts on the earlier races. Oaklawn has a really nice card as well & I like 2 in there.

It won't get above 70's tomorrow but you know it's the weather. But there will be a 15 to 20 mph winds coming into the final turn into the stretch. Not sure of the impact but  gotta the early races to see if there's any impact. Post time is 11AM EST.

The first 2 races are MSW's with some real nice breeding & both wide open with plenty of first timers. Besides breeding I look at the owner/trainer/jockey dynamic. I also look at small stables that may have a hidden gem. For 5 trainers their entries in the first race are their only horses on the card. So I always ask myself why are they there.

Quick rundown on Race 1...#1 0 f0r2, #2 got loose the post parade in his only race for Mott/Alvarado, #3 was well bet but wsa 5th by 23 lengths for Shug, #4 firster with bullet workouts for Cox/Geroux, #5 is a firster from Wall of Will, #6 firster for Pletcher/Irad/Repole with 2 nice works, #7 was the beaten favorite, #8 is the same as #6, #9 looks like he got in traffic @ 25-1 in his only try, #10 is a firster for a small trainer I like Lisa Lewis. Her record at the meet is 10-0-3-3 & at 30-1 I may play here in doubles. #11 is a firster for Chad Brown/Tyler & #12 is another firster for Brendan Walsh.

Race 2 has 9 three year old colts going 7F which is a tough distance for a youngin. #1 is a firster & has an ice cold jock in Dylan Van Dyke who is 50-1-6-8, #2 is firster from a sneaky good barn, #3 was 78-1 in his only try, #4 firster for a hot barn winning @ 28% is out of Distorted Humor & gets Javier to ride, #5 is a firster with bullets for Irad/Pletcher/Repole out of Gun Runner, #6 is a twice beaten favorite, #7 finished 2nd in last but has 4 tries to break his maiden, #8 is a firster for a hot trainer, gets Saez to ride & the daddy is McKinzie, #9 is a firster 8 gets Bravo & Ian Wilkes who is having a decent meet (16-4-2-0)

So the Repole/Pletcher/Irad Double 6-5 will the be the chalky double. I'll add my other doubles in the morning.

Beautiful sunny morning here in South Florida. It's a chilly 62 degrees & is headed to about 71. The track is only a mile from the ocean & usually gets a nice cool breeze. On to the races but I'm taking a slow approach in these first 2 MSW races because anything can happen.

#1 goes shorter here#2 in from Churchill tired in his last; #3 has won 1 of 12 but just missed in her last after shipping in from Australia; #4 Scratched; #5  has won 4 of 6 @ GP; #6 ran 2nd to #5; #7 my play; #8 in from Woodbine but has also been dull; #9 hasn't won since March at Tampa; 10 SCRATCHED.

Race 5..I'm surprised to see Wesley Ward's #6 scratched because these short turf races are his cup & tea. This looks like a real nice race.
