Pegasus Day Saturday At Gulfstream

The card is not as good as last year most probably due to the change in purse structure. It should be cool Saturday and a great day for racing. Post time is an early 11:30. Some thoughts... 

Money Mike Smith has 2 mounts on the card. One in the 1st race & Omaha Beach in the last. I'm surprised he didn't pick up another mount here or there.

Flavien Prat seems to always ride well @ GP. He has mounts in 7 of the 12 races. I'd advise giving his horses a second look especially for the exotics. 

Javier Castellano lost his mount in the $3 million race when #9 Spun to Run scratched. Wouldn't be surprised to see another jock get bounced for Javier. And that would really suck for someone.

Trainer Mike Maker has 4 entered in the 10th race. Chad Brown has 3 entered in the 11th Pegasus Turf.

There are a couple of nice MSW races with first time starters with excellent,expensive breeding. 

My girl Georgina Baxter has 2 on the card but both are in tough spots. Her 10 year old in the 3rd race #6 Pay Any Price is a 15 time winner on the GP turf including winning his last. But makes a big class jump here. She also has #1 Thinkin Cowboy in the 5th race. I like that Gafflione stays on board but she too moves up in class.

Frank Stronach, owner of Gulfstream and other tracks, has a first timer in the 2nd race. He's a colt out of Street Sense and has attracted Javier to ride him.

I think this one is live & Stronach has been waiting to race him on Pegasus Day. ML is 8-1.

He'll be in my doubles & may be worth a WIN play.

Huge scratch in the feature.....Omaha Beach is scratched in the feature race. Mile Smith is off both of his mounts.

Really like the 8 in the second race.

I don't know how I missed that scratch. Omaha Beach has the start of a cannon bone fracture.

Gulfstream never ever maintains their post time.

Race 4 I'm boxing 4-6-9-10

I'm glad #8 scratched because I couldn't throw him out.

Flavien Prat won the last in a nice closing style. He just loves racing @ GP & always seems to be on live horses here.

Johnny V brings home Pletcher's first timer as the 6-5 favorite & that man again Flavien Prat runs 2nd @50-1 on #6.

Race 5 we have an interesting mare in #5 Jean Elizabeth who has won 12 of 18 & the Ortiz brothers change roles with Irad up instead of Jose. She tries the turf for the first time & Irad is fantastic on the turf.

#1 is my girl's mare Thinkin Cowboy who loves the distance & the turf. Jose stays on #2 Girls Know Best who also loves the dist/turf & has won 12 of 25 lifetime. #3 was a beaten fav in her last. #4 won her last race. #7 gets a big jock change to Saez with some nice works. #8 usually gets played & Paco gets on for the first time. #9 goes shorter.

#5 Jean Elizabeth with one of the best turf riders Irad Ortiz wins by a head for the 1st time on the turf catching #2. Got the exacta & tri 5-2-8 with Paco getting 3rd.

It's an Ortiz brother $22.40 exacta. Add Paco for the $55 tri.

Not a big payoff but it's a winner.

Race 6 #1 is trained by ed ht trainer Saffie Joseph; # 2 has won 2 of 10; #3 4-4 ITM with Saez off & Javier up. #4 has been dull; #5 will be closing & is live with Chris Landeros. #6 is my play having won 6 of 11 for Mott. #7 has won 1 of 33 tries. #8 is 2 for 16. #9 is 2 for @ the distance. #10 has won 4 of 10 & gets Rosario. #11 is in from Laurel & has been away 3 months. #12 is 0-8 @ GP

#2 stretches out; won 3 of 7; steadied in last. Johnny V stays on.

#8 won last 2 for Chad Brown. stretching out here doesn't look like a problem. The PLAY

Whew...I was yelling for that #7 to hang on for 3rd.
