0-for-1 on Saturday, with IMMINENT STORM going off at 23/1 odds but finishing off the board. The winner STELLAR TAP looked fantastic, and may be the best 2yo I've seen so far this year.
Saratoga - Race 2
#5 SKYLERVILLE (5/1 ml)
2yo firster for Jonathan Thomas worked heads-up a few weeks ago with BENBANG, who came out of that drill to score an easy frontrunning win on July 29 at Saratoga (won by 3 lengths). A couple of weeks later, SKYLERVILLE worked with BAY STORM, an older 3yo winner who came off a layoff to finish a close 5th (beaten two lengths) in a fast allowance turf sprint yesterday. Thomas can be very dangerous with unraced 2yo's debuting around two turns on grass, and this one definitely appears live. Only slight negative is that he tends to use Manny Franco in these spots, and Franco turns up aboard the Cox entrant ANILEATE. That may have more to do with the Cox/Franco relationship than anything else though. Should run well here at a price.
The other horse I wanted to mention here is part of the favored Chad Brown entry (CONSUMER SPENDING, 7/5 ml). He mostly has been working with unraced barnmates (as has entrymate MCKULICK), but CONSUMER SPENDING did work on July 14 with EXPEND THE MAP, who went off as a heavy 1/2 favorite when finishing second behind our impressive winner PIZZA BIANCA on July 22. Have to expect a good run based on that.
Saratoga - Race 6
#10 MOMMASGOTTARUN (7/2 ml)
2yo firster for Tom Amoss has worked heads-up a couple of times (including most recently) with MICROBIOME, who scored an impressive win for us on Opening Day (July 15), and is entered in today's G2 Adirondack Stakes. MOMMASGOTTARUN has also worked a couple of times (including once from the gate) with KNEESNHIPS, who came out of those drills to win at Ellis Park on July 4. Also note that MOMMASGOTTARUN will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, who not only won aboard MICROBIOME for this barn, but also our sharp 7/1 winner KEVIN'S FOLLY last weekend. Clearly live here from the outside post.
