After winning the
Hutcheson @ Gulfstream, trainer Philip Bauer said that he was planning to run
on the Derby card. So I've I've been waiting for this one to race again. If you
get a chance take a look at this colt's 2 career races.
He won @ Tampa Bay at
first asking going 6.5 f in a 28k Maiden Claimer. Cheap right? Nice win but
nothing special. Tampa is a tiring track much like the old Calder strip in a
couple of ways.
But take a look at his
win in the Hutcheson going 6 furlongs. He made a huge move, won by 5 but it
could have been much more.
Leparoux jumps off him to ride #5 Mississippi & I don't blame
him. But I have no problem with Florent Geroux hopping aboard.
He's a beautiful looking
roan out of Tapit & the ML is 5-1 which is about what he went off in his 2
wins. Along with Mississippi, others like #8 Mask & #1 National Flag will
take a lot of action.
With his sire being
Tapit, I believe he will like the mile distance. He raced a little green in his
recent win like Tapit babies can do but there's a ton of talent here I believe.
We'll see Saturday.

Hello Midnight1, putting our political differences aside I like Madison's Luna chances. I'm putting Sporting Chance and Mask on top with National Flag, Madison's Luna, Restoring Rope and Madison's Luna underneath for triples.

Stan..Mississippi had the lead for a short time in the Florida Derby before Audible ran him down. I agree
vet.. BOL to u. It will be a fun day.
If the track comes up wet tomorrow, Luna's Tapit breeding should make him feel right at home.
Crazy....it's exciting when you've waited for a colt to run, you expect him to run a big race but there's always the chance you could be totally wrong . On big racing days some of these young fillies/colts can become easily distracted by the crowd, get washed out & leave their race in the stable. When they do win it's a rush that's hard to explain.
