I will be the first one to admit that I do not have the slightest clue when it comes to investing, the stock market, etc. Half of the threads I read in this part of the forum appear to be in a foreign language. Do any of you have a good book recommendation for a beginner who would like to get more involved in his own investing or any advice whatsoever?
I currently have a financial advisor that has set up some tools for both my wife and I but was hoping someone might be able to provide a good starting point for a newbe looking to get more involved.
Thanks for taking the time to respond for those of you that do.

Im into to froex and trade a few stocks and the same tech indicators are used for the both markets so chart study is the same...i jumped out of a few of my stocks the last few weeks due to extreme reading of tech indicators..and so far it looks like the right move
Id say to start doing chart studying and figure out what tech indicators you want to use and youll be on your way

For sheer entertainment value, (beach reading) Liars Poker by Michael Lewis.
For a well written recap of the recent era, because you have got to put it into context, despite needing to guesstimate the future: the books written by Michael Lewis (The Big Short) and also Andrew Ross Sorkin (Too Big to Fail ,the last, is, I admit , a shameless plug for a friend's nephew).
Don't get bogged down into a lot of technicalities.Keep it simple.
Decide what your risk tolerance is, and go from there.

Are you investing or trading? There is a big difference between the two.
You need to give some idea of your time frame and ability of handle risk.
Hit us back, I am sure between all of the people here we can come up with a few books for you.
Wall, maybe a sticky on this question would be good, it seems to crop up a lot.
Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (for trading psychology and a fantastic tale, despite its age)
For investing, these books the hedgie Michael Burry mentions reading:

Thank you for the responses. I have no idea whether I am looking to invest or trade. My inclination is that investing would be my best bet as I work long hours and do not have the time needed to trade from what I hear. I am 29 and have been practicing law for the past 4 years. I would like to start using my money more wisely as opposed to just letting it sit in my savings account but maybe that is the best thing for me right now.
I appreciate the book advice. I will have to look into those. Further, bucknuts recommends chart studying. What and where do you do something like that? As I stated, I am a true beginner and have been told by many people that if I enjoyed gambling as much as I do that I should try getting involved in the stock market.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is the story of Jesse Livermore who many believe was the father of Technical Analysis (ie: charting stock price movements to predict future moves)
