I would never buy individual stocks. I suggest looking at good longterm growth no-load mutual funds. At least until you are comfortbale with doing your own research. And be sure to diversify.
There are many, many good sources online or at your local bookstore that will steer you correctly.

I would use it in the loil line, a bank or two and another 5 or 6K of it in pharma, people r getting older everyday, Hospitals and medical are going to make up 30% of GDp by 2025. Someday, not far from today, it will be 80% and that is all we will do, pay each other to take care of each other, and live as long as possible, how ironic..
Celgene, Phamacyclics, Jazz pharma, foundation med, biomarin, bicryst, catalyst, and especially avanir - which will soon have the first ALZ demensia drug, along with their depression, etc.. Will be gigantic ! And Concert pharma which supplies the idea behind longer lasting drugs, will balso be huge someday...
