Top stock pick for 2007

Just for the hell of it post your top stock pick for 2007 and we'll follow up at 3, 6, 9, and 12 mos to look at returns on the stock. Include the current price when you post your pick.

 

My pick is KONG  which closed at 9.76 on 12/29

 

Admittedly I found this stock in a google search and it was the Motley Fool forum's pick as top stock for 2007. After taking a closer look I see why. Trading at less than 13 x earnings it is a relatively cheap growth stock in an emerging marketplace.  Tomorrow I will sell most if not all of my PWEI and add this stock to my portfolie. Here's a brief summary of the company from yahoo.

It also engages in the development, distribution, and marketing of consumer wireless value added services. In addition, it provides various data and voice services through 2G technology platforms, such as SMS, IVR, and CRBT. The company’s interactive entertainment services include mobile games, pictures, karaoke, electronic books, and mobile phone personalization features, such as ringtones, wallpapers, clocks, and calendars. Its media services provide content, such as domestic and international news, entertainment, sports, fashion, lifestyle, and other special interest areas.

wallstreet: EFUT opened today around 34. How can you short it at 36?

We never stipulated the price being the OPEN of trading, 36 and higher was acutally traded the first 2 min today, but to meet your requirement, the open was 35.40.

Based on that criterion, KONG opened at 9.88 today.

So I am cool with that.

wallstreet: I missed the fact EFUT traded over 36 today.

nsmg.  Sell in late summer or early fall.  At .11 now.  This is a storm anticipation stack.  Went to 2.50 before Katrina and went to .65 last summer/fall on a safe season.  Bottomed at .055 in late December and has already doubled to .11 as people want to get in early and ride it up to storm season when it really starts to move.     

 

U.S airways currently at 58.29  This stock is gonna tank all the good info has come out now here comes the bad. investors will jump ship quickly the stock is wayyyyy overvalued and it tends to mirror the rise and fall of gas prices, gas prices fell from sept to dec and the stock shot up over those months now. gas prices are back on their way up if u get in now u will definitely thank me. i am shorting this stock with upwards of 10 grand. gl

CMRG.....Large & Tall Men's Retailer.  Over 20% short interest that will have to be covered and they are also doing a large buyback this year.  Reduced debt on the balance sheet to boot.  Hedge Fund SAC capital recently announced a stake.

KONG down to 8.45 I did say short it last wk didn't I?

 

I hope nobody followed my advice and bought this one. Thankfully I wasn't willing to sell my PWEI at a loss and buy this loser(at least short-term). After taking a closer look I found the new regulations by the major cellphone service providers in China which hurt KONG's revenues in the 4th qtr and will continue to slow it's growth . KONG may not be a bad long term investment but it looks like you might be able to buy it for $6-7/share in the not too distant future. It has been in a dive since last Tuesday.

BIDU is the best in the Chinese internet sector (Chinternet), it's a buy under $120.  It's growing about 20 times as fast as King GOOG... the easiest way to play it is by purchasing JAN 08 $150 calls (leaps).

at .23 now. Up over a hundred percent since posted earlier. I really believe this doubles again by june and possibly goes over a buck plus if storms hit

32count: Looks like a good call on nsmg. I've only ventured into the penny stocks once before but I wish that I'd followed you on that one.

PACIFICA (TSXV)-  .62    About to release their indicated resource estimate in march  and  the new 43101 will make this company the largest zinc deposit in the world,and they will be bought out  by a major mining company this year.

Thanks Grapevine.  We will  see how it goes.  If you have a little extra you might want to play this.  You guys are more versed than I am but I really believe at the very least this thing goes to at least .50 with the potential to go far higher.  Katrina shot it through the roof two years ago but I am not sure how easy it was to get in and out.  In closing I am moving out of the pinks and bb's because that is what you smart guys do.  I am going to play nsmg, bugs, and bkmp, for a bit longer and then check myself into rehab.  Duke, I will check it out.

 Hey guys. up 19 percent again to .29.  I really believe this at least doubles again especially with the news of a la nina being forecasted which means a lot of east coast storms this summer and a lot of work for the company.  Up a 159 percent now.  I know that seems like it will pull back but the history indicates a gradual ris into summer.  I think with the anticipation of past developments this will keep moving and possibly a ways over a dollar imo
