Will be meeting up with my family out there over new years and my father is looking for some good italian food. Any opinions on stuff on the strip or very close to the strip (bautistas)?
Thanks guys.

The best Osso Bucco in the United States is at Ferraro's...only one location...Mimmo, the son, is superb in the kitchen.
Start with the Lobster Risotto ..and split it as an appetizer....then move right into the Osso Bucco.....accompany it with a spectacular Amarone.....
As good as anything back East.....just more expensive....lol
Late afternoon.....the Happy Hour at Il Fornaio at NY-NY is really good.....only at the bar area....antipasto and thin-crust pie for $7....
PS....THE BEST PIZZA IN VEGAS....NY-style (thin crust and the oil running down your arm when you fold the pie) is at NY Pizza on the mezzanine at NY-NY....really expensive and worth it.Make certain that you get it fresh out of the oven and not re-heated..

vegas gourmet, not sure if im goin crazy, but im almost positive ive seen a new ferraro's on the way to the airport, either past the mandalay bay in a new small plaza or close to the hard rock. i think it was close to the ruth's chris, but not sure. if you can confirm this, it would be great. but ferraro's is great.

Yeah, Bronco...
Their original restaurant...which I preferred...was over on the West side....$20 cab ride from the Strip...This new one (and the only one) is on Paradise...
Why did I like the original location?....It had a kind of aura.....You sat there and expected Sinatra to walk in with a group of friends...The new one is going after the tourists...bigger, less atmosphere. ...BUT still absolutely superb comfort Italian food.

Sharp...
My problem with Rao's at Caesars is that it doesn't compare to the original one in NYC.....a little too "touristy" for me.
Lots of places, once they start expanding, lose control of their quality and signature dishes....
The best chef in Vegas, to me, is Michael Jordan (not THAT MJ)...he owns Rosemary's. Some time back, he opened a second one in the Rio (where Martorano's is now)...and could not keep up the quality that he was famous for...shut down and did the right thing for his food. Also, try Todd's Unique over on Sunset in Henderson...brilliant dishes, market-fresh food. These are 2 brilliant chefs who could have several places and go after the tourist crowd...and choose not to. Bravo.

Ken..
Make certain that it's fresh out of the oven....none of that reheated stuff...
Best way to do it: Order a cheese pie, sit across at the Pour 24 bar, watch the games and have them bring the pie to you, hot out of the oven.....I'd add a little crushed oregano also!!

IMO any of Mario Batali's restaurants (I think they are all at Venetian) are best.
Enoteco San Marco is my favorite cuz it's the most casual. I don't like to get too crazy with the formal dining in Vegas.

If you like seafood then don't skip Bartolotta. I try to hit that place a few times a year and I'm never disappointed.
Raos is more standard Italian. Very good but nothing spectacular in my opinion. Go Ferraros over Raos if you don't mind leaving the strip. The Burrata app. is sick.
