I was in Vegas for the first time last year for the second weekend - lots of people - we stayed a MGM - I like Ceasars for the space and spaces to sit - I really enjoyed being there Thursday to Sunday - but be prepared for lots of people around the tvs

no matter where you stay if you find a place you like - take a cab

thanks for the help everyone...looks like the Tropicana is my top choice now, on the strip, close to the monte carlo where my buddies are staying and relatively inexpensive and they got renovated rooms...anyone think that's a bad choice?

Nothing wrong with the Trop. Great location. I stayed there years ago when everyone said it had turned into a shithole and I had a nice room, so it can only be better now that they have remodeled. Used to have a real nice buffet. Good luck to ya. Give us a post when you get back and let us know how everything was.

purdue just call up any hotel there and bargain with them. most of them have coupons they will give you over the phone.
i will be there tues 15th thru mon. staying at the rio. used to stay at the mirage and ceasars with a high roller but he doesn't go anymore.

I go every year and my advice if you want to get off somewhat Cheap is don`t book a package just book your flight and book room separately. Downtown is the cheapest most likely and renting a car lets you get around and is well worth it IMO. Hilton is good for viewing the games and they will most likely have a spot in there convention center to show the games as well as the sportsbook. Probably would need to watch games in the sportsbook if you want to drink free though.

may try that, since the last couple days I have been leaning on driving 28 hours from indiana to vegas...make it a great roadtrip

although if i lost my ass there, the drive back would suck severely

You are crazy if you try to drive! Trust me, I sleep the whole plane trip back every year. You will be worn out.

I'm at the Paris for the whole weekend. I like the auditorium there. Last year they didn't do it though, so we hit up Planet Hollywood.

I'm not into standing in line to place bets, so I place all bets on my online accounts. It's easier and I don't have to worry about losing tickets or cash during the drinking fest it usually is.

we will probably be at the mirage alot. love the sportsbook. place your bets the night before. usually if you bet over 300 you get a couple drink tickets. place your bets at the horse wagering area to the left. not to crowded. and if you place a 2$ horse bet you get a drink ticket! yeah crazy but true. my buddy has an idea on horses and we go to vegasinsider.com for some horse picks. great way to drink for free all day while watching hoops.
maybe covers members could get a get together going out there for a night. i would really like to hit up gamehunter for some horse picks while we are out there

I've never bet on horses actually, i just see it as a toss up and take big underdogs and hope one eventually wins

But i'm down to play $2 for a drink ticket if that's all that happens, get a nice jack and coke for $2 is solid

I'll more than likely try out as many casinos/sportsbooks as i can

Well i would be stopping a little over halfway each way to sleep...absolutely no way to drive 28 hours straight.

Last spring I drove from miami to indianapolis STRAIGHT (20+ hours). That was rough but we didn't leave til the afternoon so i was already worn out from the day.

We think alike as I almost talked myself into driving there from Mississippi, going through Texas and New Mexico and winding my sports car out. But damn its a helluva drive back if one drops a few k in the greatest city in the world.

Will be at the Hilton March 16-19, this is my first trip during the Madness and cant wait BOL and hope you profit 10k

As far as free drinks, Belagio is the only place that offers free drinks w/o having to place a wager but only during live game action. Drink tickets are available at Excalibur but have have to place a $100 wager to get ONE ticket, horrible plus their cocktail waitresses are ugly Viking Helgas. Unbelievable that a major resort on the strip would have that. Get a clue Excalibur. GL and have fun.
