it's impossible to be sober out there. U get drunk one day, wake up still drunk basically and the only way to not feel like absolute crap is to keep drinking.

Gotta add my 2 cents here...and will try not to sound like I'm on a soapbox........
I have never, ever, understood the connection between gambling and drinking.
I understand the connection between eating and drinking....but not gambling.
The constant threads in this forum about comping of drinks feeds into an area that I just have never understood.....and, trust me, I have gotten sick drunk many times...learned at any early age how to make myself throwup so I could get some sleep.....So, I am not trying to preach to the crowd....
Just don't understand the connection...booze is booze, regardless of what city you're in....and your hometown bartender can "comp" you just as well as a Vegas bartender..and without betting a dime.

I see so many people talking about their upcoming or past trips on here and it amazes me how long of a stay some of them are... Sometimes a week +
How do you even do that? Just not party while you're there or what?
I can only do two-nights anymore. Last time I tried a three-nighter, I had alcohol withdrawals when I came home, no joke.
Try living here and having friends coming into town every weekend. I never really drank or gambled untill I moved to Vegas now I am at the damn casino every day. Easy to get caught up here.
Most of the time we look for locals deals and it really helps with the $$...

I think it is also about logistics. If you are like me and within driving distance we can get there easily for a weekend stay and not miss an hour of work. Or we make it a long weekend. I go several times a year and most are the long weekend type.
If you are not within driving distance then you need to hop a plane and would be inclined to stay for a longer period. Those are probably the threads you are reading.
I will be going for the first week of March Madness and staying Wednesday to Sunday 5 days 4 nights.

first off let me say im 55 (some may say a dinosauer), but I always enjoy my long visits- drink very little,, enjoy long afternoons at the spa at the golden nugget,,cardio, weights, sauna, steam room, hot tub, really relax, take in some shows , a few long leisurely meals at at Vic & Anthonys- spend a good amount of time crunching the numbers preparing my daily gambling card- sightseeing,,life is a journey~~enjoy the ride~~

The last 2 times I've been there, I've gone 5 days. For me, though, you have to have some sort of sports that heavily occupies the time for at least a couple of those days.
We went for March Madness, the first Thurs-Sun, so that obviously takes care of that.
We then went in November during football season, so at least Sat and Sunday were completely filled with football, along with the Monday night game.
I don't think I could make a mid-summer trip for 5 days, but I've found that with enough sports to keep me occupied, and off the tables, that I enjoy it. Plenty of time to sight-see, take in a couple shows, check out some nice dinner places, etc.

I'm another dinosaur and I lived LV for almost 10years.I relied on my bankroll to pay rent and live. I never got drunk because LV is the worse place in the country to be out of control and not in control of your impulses. If I was stoned my bankroll wasn't with me. Have you ever even said something you regretted while buzzed? What's your record on bets you made drunk?

I agree with everyone. I have no self-control. Obviously, I'm a gambler. Add drinking, chain smoking, and questionable morals...
3 days is perfect for me. 4 puts me into a weeklong hangover that is hard to recover from. When the sports action is light, I monopolize my time at the tables. I tend to rationalize and "justify" a bottle of beer at 9 AM because it is "free" and I want to kill my hangover.
Of course, I get drunk and start making stupid bets.
Who am I trying to fool? I love that town.

I just came back from there last Fridaay....I'm usually there 2 or 3 nights and 3/4 days...I go there for the sportsbook and the buffets, chill with my buds and check out the honeys in the pool....but usually the sightseeing, the nice relaxing bathtub and sportsbook.
