I'm flying to Vegas next Thursday (May 23) and I will only be there for one day. I need some suggestion as to which sportsbook to use that is near the airport and I can stay during the entire day watching games.
Also, do you think sportsbook will have issues if I carry my luggage throughout sportsbook? I am not going to any hotel. I will be in Vegas from 11:30am-12:00pm until midnight and taking another flight.
I was checking sports calendar and for that day only four MLB games and three NHL hockey games.
I'm going to play a big parlay (just for fun) to see if I hit it big. Also, I'm assuming I can cash your winning ticket because all games are in ET time zone and should be done by 7:00pm PT.
Or you cannot cash in on the same day?
Any inputs?

The closest would be pretty much any property on that end of the strip: Hooters, Tropicana, MGM, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, etc.
I highly doubt any of those books would be busy that day so nobody's going to say anything about some luggage, but if I were you, I'd just check your bags at whichever casino you end up at. They'll check them, and then just go get them when you're done. Lots of people check bags at a hotel they're not staying at due to flight times/shows, etc. Not uncommon at all. Tip the bag guy a couple dollars when you're leaving and go about your business.
You can get paid about 1 minute after the game is over. If for some reason something runs late, just keep the betting slip and send it in certified mail. They'll send you a check within a couple weeks.

You generally can't take any pictures, but that depends who's looking, but since you don't really have any other place to go, I wouldn't take them. You can have cell phones and computers, just can't have them anywhere near the betting window

- I recommend going to Aria Sportsbook, but you can't go wrong with most others.
- When you get to the hotel, you can check your baggage at the Bell Desk even if you are not staying at the hotel. It is free, but I highly recommend tipping when you retrieve your luggage at night. You don't want to take your baggage with you into the book, because it will limit your movement and you will have to constantly keep an eye on it.
- You can have your phone or tablet in the book. I always have my phone to check the lines at the casino against those online. It is technically against sportsbook policy to do this, but how the darn will they know what you are doing? Just beware, cell phone reception is notoriously bad in casinos. But if you are there during a weekday, it shouldn't be too bad. Also, these is no freee wifi in casinos. Only to guests who have passwords.
- If you make a bet, but have to leave to the airport before the game ends. Don't worry, you can mail in winning tickets and they will send you a check.
- I've done the long layover thing in Vegas before and loved it. Enjoy yourself, you will be amazed at the size of these places.

When you get to the airport, take a cab, or even rent a car. I have seen so many people take those stupid shuttles and spend their whole day going from casino to casino. dropping off all the other nitwits.
If you are not going to drink, you can rent a car for about $30 for the day on priceline or hotwire. If you are going to have a few, just take taxi's. I often will try to split a cab with people in line by themselves too. Just ask em where they are going and ask them if they want to split it. Most people are totally cool with this. Ditto when you leave and are going back to the airport, many will be doing the same.
If you have a layover in the airport, I would look into checking my bags early on my next flight? Just a thought.
The other info is dead on. Do not be afraid to ask the betting window guys for drink tix, this is getting harder but does not hurt to ask. Toke em a few bucks or a small bet to grease the wheels. I have seen them now make you ask the manager for drink tix to slow this down.

Not as easy to do as before 9/11. Also, it will increase your chance of them getting lost.
This brings up another possibility, if this is truly a "layover", they may check your bags through to your final destination when you check in. If they do that, you won't have to worry about your bags in Vegas. It will save you over an hour at the front and back end of your layover, as getting your bags in Vegas and checking in takes much longer then at most airports (usually 30 mins minimum until bags appear on the carasol from when you left hte aircraft).
Crash brings up a great point about the rent-a-car, it can be cheaper then doing a cab, but not that much. But again take into account the time you will need to invest in this. The car rentals are not at the airport, they are 10 miles away and you need to take a shuttle there and back. This will cost you another hour at least picking up and dropping off your car.

SO to summarize, this is what I would do to optimize your time. At your point of departure, see if you can check your bags all the way through to your final destination and also get your boarding passes all the way though. I would take a cab or possibly a shuttle if one is ready to leave. Then take a cab back to the airport at Midnight.
That way all you need to do when you arrive is depart the plane and head for the cab stand. When you return, since you already have your boarding pass and your luggage is checked though, all you need to do is head through security to your gate.

If you want overnite lines, go to southoint or Orleans or LVH. no one else will have them. Maybe will hill in terribles.
Orleans will have them up prolly by 4pm Thursday for Fridays game. Sometimes there may not be room on the board, but the sheets are out. Slow day Thursday in sports so they should be up.
