Impromptu Trip to Vegas November 30th-December 4th

Question

Wooooo! Just recently got a new job and am transitioning out of my current 2 part time jobs. Training for my new job starts December 10th. So I thought I'd take a trip before I get going with my new company (assuming it all works out, background check/drug test (don't think there's anything to worry about)).

With that being said, I was gonna go out to San Francisco to visit a buddy but he can't get off work. Then I thought about going to Houston or Austin to visit some buddies but airfare was like 500 bucks to both these places AND my buddies all have to work as well. (My trip is very last minute).

So I said, F it….I'm going back to Vegas to go on a "poker business trip" so to speak. I love poker and plan on grinding it out for 3 straight days. I also will be staying for free at my friends house who is a teacher.

I will be getting in Saturday night so I will get to enjoy another NFL Sunday in Vegas! Wooo. However, I won't be betting as much on sports this trip as last time. I was JUST in Vegas November 1st-5th but that was more of a pleasure trip with a couple buddies. This trip is all about making money.

SO if any of you guys will be there during these dates and wanted to meet up---let me know and I am sure I can make it happen.

Pumped to get to chill by myself and just try and grind out some bucks on the poker tables! And hopefully pick a few NFL winners too.

Last trip I played in a few rooms for the 1st time. Those being Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand, and Mandalay Bay. I will NOT be playing in Mandalay Bay (tough room IMO) or MGM Grand (did not like the vibe/layout of this room). However, I will play at PH again simply because I ran good there and I really liked the dealers there. I didn't like how the card room wasn't really a room at all but it's ok, the competition was super soft there.

This next trip I will be check the Mirage poker room for sure (I read good things) and I might get in on some 1-3 action at the Aria/Bellagio/Caesars Palace. I have seen all these rooms but never played in any of them.

Fellow Covers Members----I need some advice, what are the softest poker rooms that you all have played in while in Vegas? This trip is strictly about making money and playing poker. I am not interested in battling out with sharks (experienced this at Mandalay Bay and Venetian in the past). I just want to make some $$$ Thanks guys.

Wow 2 trips in 30 days. I like playing poker when I stay on the strip at the Flamingo and also at the Orleans when I stay off strip.

I have had success at both places. Usually not much wait to get on a table at the Flamingo but the Orleans can get crowded in the evening especially on weekends or during a promotion. Quite a few locals at the Orleans.

Congrats on the second trip. For a Poker player, the only way to get a true poker experience in Vegas is to go alone. That way you have the time you need to play good solid poker. Non-poker players do not understand this and keep hounding you about when you are going to be done.

Your "softest poker rooms" question gets made fun of at two plus two forums whenever it gets asked. Because in reality, there is no such thing. If there is a soft room, word gets out and it gets overrun by sharks pretty quick. On a certian night a room may be softer than another, but no one room is consistently soft

Thank you fellas. Cjm, when I played in a WSOP even in 2012 I played quite a bit at the Orleans (stayed at Gold Coast) and would take the shuttle over there. Lots of locals but kinda like Bling said, I experienced local (tougher tables) and tables full of nits. I doubt I play at the Orleans this go around but it's not outside the round of possibilities.

Bling, you make a good point. I guess it's kind of luck of the draw as to if you land on a soft table or not. In reality the room doesn't really matter I suppose---you could just as easily get lucky and get a table fool of donkeys at the Aria as you could at the Flamingo.

BUT yes, solo is the best way to play poker. Last trip I was running hot at PH (up like 700 in 3.5 hours at a 1-2 game) but my buddies were nagging me to get up and go party as it was getting late on a Friday night.

Thanks again guys. Yeah, 2 trips in 30 days is a lot, especially considering I live on the East coast but hey, you only live once and I figured as soon as I start my new job I won't be able to take a trip for a while so I thought I'd go for the gusto.

For 1-3 would you guys suggest Aria, Wynn, Bellagio, or Caesars?  My only concern about the Wynn is max buy in is 500. I&#x27;d probably buy in 200 or so at these places.

Already booked March 18-24 for the opening week of March Madness.Have not played at Aria, Ceasars, Wynn, or Bellagio. I usually just play 1-2 no limit so any room usually gets me in a game.

Aria and the B have the most games.  Wynn is alright and I don&#x27;t play at Ceasers.  The good thing with Aria and B is that they are connected by tram, so if one room isn&#x27;t good you can go to the other relatively quick.

I&#x27;ve got a question for you guys. What poker room is best for watching football on Sunday? I know some rooms have more TV&#x27;s than others&#x2026;some have none at all. I don&#x27;t want to sit in a crammed Sportsbook all day on Sunday. I&#x27;d rather play poker in a room that has a few TV&#x27;s so I can watch and play simultaneously.

PALMS is phenomenal for poker / sports book combined experience. With the renovations last year the poker room is literally in the middle of the sports book. Not a ton of poker games going but usually always a 1-2 or 1-3 NL game and some small limit hold games also. Best sports book TV&#x27;s anywhere in town and like I said you are literally IN the sports book for the poker room. Usually some decent promo&#x27;s for poker giveaways going on as well.

Another problem I am afraid I might run into&#x2026;I am literally going to be looking for 1-2 or 1-3 NL games at like 6am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday&#x2026;any suggestions on rooms that have games going that early?

refer is right about the Palms, probably the best place to play and watch sports. Otherwise most of the other poker rooms have screens, but they are usually small and it is a crap shoot whether you get sat down in front of the screen you want.

Aria and The Venetian usually have 1-3 games going 24/7

Palms is not the best poker room at all for the poker games themselves......you were looking for poker rooms to be able to play and watch games at same time. No where will give you a poker game with better TV's and access to books.

If you are looking for a wide range of games that early the Orleans has a simple (not overly elegant) poker room that will have 8-12 games at a minimum running 24/7. The room never breaks round the clock and typical night has 40+ tables running all spread games and limits.

If you aren't familiar with BRAVO POKER app on app store check it out. You download a free app that is connected to all poker room wait lists across the country that subscribe to room wait list and game tracking systems. Literally 99% of all rooms are included, you open the app and it shows you closest casinos with games wherever you are as well as tables going and wait lists for all games. If you travel a decent amount or are in a place like vegas you want to see what games are running and what the wait lists look like it is golden.

It&#x27;s game day gentlemen &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Stuck at work this morning. But my flight out of Charlotte, NC heads to Vegas tonight and I will be in Vegas approximately 9:55pm local Vegas time (a little late for my liking but it&#x27;s pretty much all I could swing, not to mention the one other better flight time was like $140 bucks more )&#xD;&#xA;Oh well----feel free to drop in here and give me a couple NFL winners! I started the season strong but have been in a bit of a slump the last few weeks (maybe Vegas is what I need to break out of this slump). &#xD;&#xA;I was thinking about possibly doing my own version of Colin Cowherd&#x27;s "Blazing 5" haha. IF I were to do such a thing, the following 5 would be my top 5 plays. BUT again, this is all subject to change. Let me know what you think fellas.
