I'll recommend the Rio..Decent sportsbook, short taxi ride or free shuttles to the Strip, nightlife at the Voodoo lounge up top w/dress code or a short walk to the Palms..
Food ranges from pretty inexpensive at the sportsbook deli and a BurgerKing to some nice restaurants.
Rooms are spacious but nothing fancy i.e. Palazzo with remote control blinds etc..but great place to crash for a week..
You want more answers/opinions ask on VegasMessageBoard and be more specific- age/budget/define action and you'll find what you need...Good luck have a great trip guy.
