South Point Casino Review .. 6 Night Stay ..

Upside........With the exception of Michael's (the upscale restaurant named after the owner) The South Point is a "local's casino" that only does major business when the cowboys are in town for a rodeo. It is very middle-class in amenities and service, as well as comfort.

I'm not quite certain where you read that it was a "4-star property" and, seriously, I am not certain what "stars" mean...other than Michelin stars. Too many publications and websites appropriate the term "stars" and have no idea what quality levels contribute to a 4-star rating.

Other than the top restaurant and the fact that the race and sports books are physically separated, I would not rate this hotel/casino higher than IP or the Hard Rock....which, if I were giving "stars" would rate 2.

My concern was not with your posting; but with the information that you used to make your decision as to where to stay and spend your hard-earned money. Next time, come mid-week and look for a good deal on the Strip

Hotwire is a website that makes money filling rooms with uninformed tourists........sad.

There are so many places on the Internet....here, for instance....where you can get tons of information that give you an opportunity to make a much more well-informed decision....To use a website that makes money if you believe them would be a poor choice.

PSS>>>I do love that after-midnight menu choices at the Coronado Cafe......great after a night of drinking on the Strip.

Upside.........The Strip, actually, provides far greater value than off-Strip hotels....the competiveness from Mandalay Bay up to The Wynn gives visitors a great "bang for their buck".....Two for one shows, outrageous buffets are just two examples.

Locals get great deals off the Strip....The Rio, Palms, Stations, etc....but the Strip hotels need the tourists to eat and drink, not just gamble, to make their $$$$....so they compete with deals that make your $$$$ go much farther...AND, with higher quality.

SOUTH POINT

If South Point is a 3 or 4-star (whatever the hell that means), then The Wynn and The Bellagio are 10-star hotels....

Seriously, people....the ONLY company that legitimately issues "stars" is Michelin....for restaurants and hotels. Anything else is BS that can be bought for a price....especially websites.

PLease do not believe everything that you see/read on a company's website...question the motives before you spend your hard-earned money.

And, once again...I enjoy the South Point for a number of things...but quality is not one of them.

If you want real 5 star quality and I mean legit 5 star ratings may I suggest the The Mandarin Oriental at city center..... place is incrediable...............hard to top this place......

Crash....You will need some connections (host) if you want special treatment at Aria...they are MUCH MORE concerned about what you do in the casino than what you do in the book.

tampa....my point was not about "value" it was about hype....If you do your research BEFORE going on one of those websites, you will have a better idea as to what level of quality you are looking for and will receive....these sites sell rooms at greatly reduced rates and are excellent for access to those rates...just don't believe the hype about "stars" or whatever.....

...And just to reiterate...I am a big fan of the South Point...just made bets there today, btw....

South Point is more for the local trash from south lvb and the crummier part of henderson.

The book is nothing short of buffoons on both sides of the counter and are not worthy of my action and for me its not worth the ride there anyway.

Can't wait for Superbowl weekend. Did you go to the Cover's party last Superbowl?  I've got comp rooms at Harrah's this year. Not like the Aria, but the price is right.
