Just returned from another Vegas trip and a stay at The Orleans. There were some very nice looking cocktail servers, including a couple that were simply gorgeous. The server that got my diet coke at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning may have been in her 30s, but was simply beautiful. Even at that hour, it was clear she'd paid attention to her hair and make-up.
Orleans talent was just a half notch below that of the Palms. Several stunners pushing booze there, even at 10 a.m.

I have to agree with bill702. casinos the Mrs and I go to that are non-union have VERY attractive young women doing cocktails. the "established" (read "old') with culinary contracts have women that have been there since the days of the Rat Pack. even with the dollar being a LOT less than 10 or 20 years ago, cocktails is STILL one of the better casino jobs and the old union shop biddies guard theirs like pitbulls.
that is NOT to bash unions, that is just the way it is

The good looking ones don't last long cause their goal is to get knocked up or courted by a celeb, athlete, or high roller who will gladly become a sugar daddy or child support/alimony income for them, this town may be built on losers but there are plenty of "winners" with large bank accounts around every casion every day like Dillinger said you go where the money is
3. it's the bottom rung for a good looking woman, they will quickly get recruited to host or bottle girl which is just code for prostitute if any ladies are reading i do apologize, there are exceptions to every rule so if the shoe dont fit dont lace it up but in my experience almost EVERY bottle girl or host has a price & its usually around 300 an hour

About ten years ago there was an influx of Russian Coctail servers at the Harrahs AC..Most notable at the revamped center bar that featured chilled vodka and the bar itself had ice pockets the bartender would shave etc..Just another gimmick there that went by the wayside like attempted twirl bartending.Both Fails.
But the girls were gorgeous .drop dead gorgeous and spoke serious English with serious accent..darn me..
They are long gone now..Probably off to better income or thier visas ran out...

If you're only referring to the cocktail waitresses patrolling the casino floor yelling COCKTAIL, you're right. But at any good pool or night club the cocktail waitresses are making 1-3K a day/night depending on the club.

Even in the old days, the cocktail talent in the grindhouses like the Sahara or ElRanchero use to "work" after their shift and they had to have a minimum of appeal. Today it's strictly 9-5 and they only hustle tips.Better looking talent have gone to the yellow pages or strip porn handouts as escorts.

Heck, there were even 50 year old men serving drinks at the WSOP at the Rio. Definitely not worth the money any more for the young attractive girls. They moved on to working the pools and night clubs. It will be senior citizens doing it 15 years from now when people are still tipping $1 per drink, the same standard it has been over the last 20 years despite inflation.

Bling, couldn't agree more. Out of Connecticut, AC, and LV, The Borgata has the BEST looking waitresses in the entire industry, by far. Last couple times in the craps pit at Caesars in LV, the waitresses had knee braces on and the avg age was 55, no bullshitting....
the maids look better than the cocktail waitress at Caesars, most of them have been their for 20 years, hired when they looked like showgirls, unfortunately time caught up with them; being served a cocktail at the craps table by a woman resembling your grandmother has no value to the LV glitter.

I've been to pretty much every casino, and club for that matter. Finding a hot cocktail waitress is like trying to find a white elephant. Few and far between. 10 years ago, they were all over the place. Tips are still a dollar, and the money these girls make is exactly the same as it was 10 years ago, yet inflation has risen. They money, even though the same, does not go as far as it did before. 35 - 40 drinks an hour? I doubt it, maybe on a very busy shift and only then if all the customers are confined to a tight space. But when you factor ordering, making the drinks, dropping them off, and the walking distances involved, the average numbers probably come to much less than that.
Also, it is nowhere as glamorous of a job as it was back in the day. Those jobs have moved on to working the big clubs or the hot pool scenes. Those things really didn't exist 15 years ago, meaning there was less places for employment for the really hot young girls (except strip clubs). Now they have many places and jobs to work, many of which are much more attractive and higher paying than being a cocktail waitress.
Don't you think it's combination of both? It's not like their jobs provide them with any training/preparation for other careers out there. A lot of them aren't going to leave so there are less openings as a result.
I am not sure Union plays a big part. Wouldn't it be against federal law if the person is fired for her age/looks?

Dude, go downtown where they're working for yo' dollah. Some fine ones, because they also rotate to deal blackjack, and then some of the casinos (like the Golden Gate) have "stripper poles" in the middle if the card/craps/roulette area where they get up and dance! In bikini-style outfits! For FREE! Right in front of you! Outside on Fremont, too.... But beware, there's also cut, bodybuilding, G-String wearing Paul Stanley from KISS, or a "Cop", or "Elvis" wanting to take a picture with you, so you gotta take the good with the bad.....
