We are a group of 8 guys that get together every year for SB weekend. This was our 20th SB weekend in Las Vegas. It was one of the better trips.
Arrived Thursday and was able to check into our Flamingo room at 11 am. Asked for a complimentary upgrade on our comp deluxe room(no $20 trick), but was told the hotel was booked solid for SB weekend. He still gave us an upgrade(lol) to a Fab room with a fantastic view of the Bellagio fountains looking one way and the Mirage volcano looking the other way. (27th floor)
Now lets talk about the “not so fab” Fab Room. This is not an upgrade and I would never spend more for a Fab Room . It is just a Deluxe room with new beds and a new supposedly hardwood floor. The floor was laid by an amateur carpenter. You could see the white glue between the strips and on the baseboards. I’m not sure if it was wood or linoleum? But it was a free room for four days.
Went to Silverton Casino for 10 times odds craps. Picked up $4,000 on some great rolls and the weekend is now paid for.
Dinner at Lawry’s Prime Rib off the strip. The best Prime Rib in the world. They come to your table with a stainless steel cart. 4 large prime ribs(rare, med./rare, med, well) and they cut it in front of you. I made the reservations for the wrong night and they still seated me at a nice booth. Cost: Expensive.
Friday: 11am tee time at Painted Desert Golf Course. We went with a friend who lives in Henderson. We got NV. resident rates. $35 for golf. $30 for club rentals. A beautiful desert course. Not super crowded and the weather was fantastic. Winds died down as we teed off. Do not ask me my score, but a great day golfing in LV with good friends.
Friday evening 5-7pm. Went to the Foundation Room - MB - Sunset Happy Hour - Sips & Cigars. A must go if you are in LV. Private club on 47th floor of MB now open to the public. Beautiful lounge(fireplace) with outdoor patio that is the best view of the strip. Patio only has 4 couches and we got one. Cigars, Jamison Irish whiskey and a great view of the city. It is now a mandatory stop on every LV trip. There is a gentleman in the MB handing out 2 for 1 drink coupons before you go up the elevator, so don’t let the prices of the drinks scare you.
Saturday: 10am South Point poker tournament. Went partners with 3 friends. We ¼ all winnings. Guess who is the only person to make final table and in the money.
Saturday dinner at Canaletto at the Venetian. Restaurant is in the court at the Grand Canal area.
Great Italian food. Dinner was compliments of the owner. What a feast. With many bottle of good wine and Chianti. Great atmosphere and our waiter Alex was fantastic.
Sunday: Super Bowl VIP party at the Flamingo. Great time had by all and our team won. Added my 20th SB hat to my collection. I wore the 1992 SB hat to the game. My friend had prop bet; NY safety will be first score. Paid 36-1. $20=$720. I hear others got 50-1.
Is LV a great town or what. Can’t wait until next years SB which will be won by my Eagles.
