Visiting Vegas in September...a few questions

I've never been. Going down the first weekend of the NFL season Sept 10-14. I've also never been in a sportsbook, always have just bet online. For a Canadian going down to Vegas to bet on sports, will the casino withhold 30-40% of my winnings? is it just as simple as going up to the ticket window, placing your bet, and getting a ticket in hand? Or do you have to sign up for a players card so that they know where you're from?
 
Sorry if the questions seem stupid, I honestly just really have no idea how that part of a sportsbook works!
 
I'm also going to predict that will be a very busy weekend in Las Vegas...

Its as simple as placing your bet and getting a ticket. They wont withhold anything.

its sweet - but the ticket, watch the game- cash the ticket,,repeat the process

I'd consider signing up for a player's card if you plan on wagering a lot. Many of the casinos are jointed so one card can be used for several casino's.

or in my case, bet the game pay and get ticket, watch game rip ticket...repeat

Devil, you and I have the same "system." 

TG909, when Vegas talk about a "player's card," he's talking about a registration that can bring you perks if you bet often enough like a free meal or a free night in a hotel.

For sports just break your bets down so the payout is less than 10k.  They wont withhold but you will have to give some info.   There are certain bets in the casino where they withhold taxes so ask the employees and bet accordingly.   I learned this the hard way when I hit the fire bet on the craps table at Rio last year for 10k and they snatched the taxes out on me.  (They withhold on 5k on that bet so dont bet more than $4 on it!-awful bet btw)

Maxx is right don't let any transaction total more then 9999.00 they have to write it up.

Or you could just be smart and have them pay you in casino chips if it is over 10,000......avoid all paperwork.

njdevils, have known you to be a sharp capper in the work slate I have seen here in the forum-- stay positive --the line to the cashiers window is the place to be

Where are you staying? We are staying at the Monte Carlo...but will spend most of our time at the Bellagio Sportsbook i assume

what other casinos in vegas offer the fire bet?

the game--i live here.

gamble--all harrahs properities,   bally's, rio, paris etc   not sure about others but I'll make a note.   I dont know why they dont all offer it, its practically stealing.

Is the first weekend of the NFL season the type of weekend where you have to get to the sportsbooks early to get a seat? I'd assume so....as everyone wants to get in on the action
