The official time of the finish listed on the scorecard was 2:41, and that’s the time UFC cage announcer Bruce Buffer read off on the FOX Sports 1-televised broadcast of the preliminary card.
But that time sent some bettors into a bit of a tizzy. In the world of sports wagering, bets can be placed on a fight’s finish being over or under the midway point of a round – 2 minutes, 30 seconds in the case of standard MMA fights. Those who placed bets on the fight ending over the midway point of the third got paid by most offshore sports wagering websites.
But the bettors who took the under in the third round cried foul after watching the fight back to see the stoppage come prior to the midway point, meaning the 2:41 time in the third was an incorrect number.
