In my opinion, i cant bet on this because i think Shields wont be able to finish GSP and cardio wise, shields cant match up with GSP either. Also, GSPs standup is much much better.. So how will Shields win?
No bet for me because too much chalk...

Shields has fluctuated with different weights in his career, his cardo was bad against Kampmann cause he had to cut more weight than usual to make 170 because he fought Hendo at strikeforce at 185...
Shields has gone 5 rounds with hendo (hendo was really gassed that fight and shields didnt really have to show a lot of cardio in that fight cause they were on the ground together almost all of the last couple rounds) and Shields also went 5 rounds with Jason MIller, i did not watch that fight so i cant comment on how shields lookd in that 5 rounder but Miller is obviously no GSP who is always moving around and pressing the pace.

Shields always has a chance to catch GSP in a sub, provided they hit the ground at some point....
there is always a chance of anything in sports but that chance is pretty small in my opinion against george but shields always finds a way to get the job done, he can definitely surprise some people. i will not underestimate jake.

You didn't even watch Shields vs Miller? You should always at least watch each guys last three fights before making a bet etc. That was a pure scrambling-grappling match that would gas out anyone and Shields kept going. He is the terminator when it comes to takedowns. Throw cardio out. It is equal. Shields is a way better submission guy than GSP ever will be and the wrestling is basically equal.

Shields came out flat in his UFC debut but I believe it was due to his massive weight cut. Before that fight he didn't fight at 170 for a long time. I mean who knows how Shields is going to look. GSP is better then Shields at everything except the ground game. GSP would be wise to keep the fight standing as a submission is the ONLY way Shields wins.

cardio would be equal only if this fight was at 185. Shields hinted that the weight cut to 170 was very difficult and that is why his performance was so flat. I mean who knows...Shields really hasn't fought at 170 in a long time other than the Kampman fight

Shields wouldn't fight at 170 if the weight cut caused him to be gassed out all the time. He made a mistake in cutting last time and let his octagon debut and nerves get the best of him. He is always best in an underdog role anyways. He had two fights at 185.

Well how will Shields really know how his body is gonna react right? what if its the same as the last fight. I'm hoping its a competitive fight. And once you move up in weight you add on muscle and its very hard to drop back down. Look at Dan Henderson when he went back down for Shields. He gassed the last 4 rounds.

Yeah but Hendo had been going up and down his whole career. That wasn't his first time dropping. Also, while I agree, and wish Shields stuck at MW (Zuffa leaned on him to go back to WW), the fact he is a Vegan etc. and is obsessed with his diet will help. I seriously doubts he makes the same mistake twice.

Watch Jake Shields roll with Ben Askren. Ben Askren would ragdoll GSP. Shields dominated Hendo with wrestling. Koscheck stopped GSP's takedowns in the last fight and took GSP down.

I think their wrestling are both good but different styles. GSP is more explosive takedowns. While Shields is more grab a hold of a leg and try to drag em down.

Yeah Shields is more of a single leg, scrambling type wrestler/grappler. GSP is an explosive double leg guy like you said. Good point.

exactly... I just really believe that GSPs wrestling for MMA, big difference from pure wrestling, is just on another level... and dont compare Shields wrestling against Hendo, hendo was not his normal self, that weight cut really hurt him, anyone could of taken hendo down after that first round... I remember reading that GSPs stats at successful takedown attempts is ridiculous.. Shields is not on the same level for MMA wrestling as GSP.. Hopefully he shows it in this fight..
