His game is simply the most versatile one around. The fact that he is able to defend his belt, so many times, against every type of fighter is a tribute to his natural talent, skills, and adaptability.
Weidman is being hyped to such a degree for marketing purposes...nothing else. He's a guy with wrestling skills who can hit hard. But he is too slow. Heck everybody is too slow when compared to Silva.
The problem that people have is not being able to see past the superficial. Many doubters point to the first Silva/Sonnen fight as a blueprint for defeating Silva. BUT they only see the surface. In that fight, Silva did not have any real mobility from the "get go". WHY??? When Sonnen, one of the worst strikers, looked like Ali against Silva, you have to ask yourself "WHY".
And the only reasonable answer is that Silva "really" was not healthy. In the rematch, a healthy Silva got taken down by Sonnen in the first round, just like in the Hendo fight. BUT in the second round Silva kicked in his Matrix mode and becomes harder to take down. Both Hendo and Sonnen paid the price in the critical 2nd round.
That is how I envision the fight with Weidman will be...
I predict Weidman is going to lose in the 2nd round by KO/TKO... but it wouldn't surprise me if he lost in the 1st round.
Silva has the ability to avoid taking damage even from the bottom...as in the case against Sonnen and Hendo. So even if he's on the bottom in the first with Weidman, is no big deal.
Silva bells Silva bells

Why I'm taking Silva heavily...

Weidman is a beast. i wouldn't count him out if i were you. Anderson probably won't be able to defend the takedown and if Weidman gets top position he's going to unload bombs. Chael doesn't have nearly the power that Weidman possesses. Its a totally different opponent. Anderson won't get away with being on the bottom vs Weidman like he did vs Chael. He'll get busted up. With that said, Anderson does have a significant advantage with the striking. He's fully capable of winning the fight on the feet. But i don't see the fight going his way. I could be way off but i think Weidman is going to stop Anderson via ground and pound, and shock the world. Either way should be a great fight.

Weidman's BJJ is amazing. Watch him in some tournies. If he can get on top of Silva I suspect he will hold him there and sub him or put him in sticky situations to drop bombs.
Weidman just seems more confident than any other fighter silva has faced. Yes sonnen was confident, same with hendo. But weidman really seems like he has a goal here. Look at his fridge material for god's sakes.
I may just want silva to lose. But i can't help but have this feeling that weidman, inexperianced or not, could turn this fight into a messy grappling match.
Really hoping for the upset but i suggest not putting too much money on this fight unless you are as confident as OP in silva or weidman.
