This will be the first time two Olympians have ever met inside the octagon. Bronze Medal Judo vs Silver Medal Freestyle Wrestling. Right as the winter Olympics are wrapping up, pretty good story line.
I've only seen a little bit of McMann, I think she wins some rounds early with her top control, in the end you have to side with the champ here. I think she get's it done with her hands in the latter rounds after failing to submit the very strong McMann.

One could say the UFC has been babying McDonald, a quick look at his UFC
resume and you'll notice it's totally devoid of Wrestlers. I'm pretty sure
Lawler and Ellenberger didn't attempt a take-down so we will leave them out,
before those two Rory had fought, BJ Penn, Che Mills, Mike Pyle, Nate Diaz,
Condit and Guymon.
I realize that Maia is not a traditional wrestler; he does however have a very
under-rated clinch game and a strong Judo base. He was able to take one of the
best MMA wrestlers in the game and current 185 champion to a competitive split
decision and then went on to wrestle fu%& Rick Story and Jon Fitch (and the
beautiful throw on Stun Gun along the fenced that Kim’s rib) before losing
another competitive split decision to another excellent MMA wrestler in Jake
Shields. Not to mention the 2009 dismantling of Chael Sonnen against the fence
with beautiful counter wrestling and transitions from Maia.
That all said this won't be a walk in the park for either man, while Robbie
Lawler was able to push Rory around with his strikes Maia will look to do
likewise with his clinch work. Rory will look to keep Maia at the end of his
Jab and work his straight punches from range. I think we'll find out pretty
quick whether or not Maia will be able to impose his criminally under-rated
clinch and wrestling game. While Rory definitely has the reach advantage, Maia
is actually an inch taller and remember, Maia used to fight with the big boys
at 185, he's clinched up (and usually held his own) with the likes of Mark
Munoz, Chris Weidman, Dan Miller and Chael Sonnen, up a weight class. Throw in
Maia's old man strength (36) now and I actually think he will be the physically
stronger fighter come Saturday. All this will be moot if Maia is reduced to
striking at range with Rory. My heart says Maia but my head is leaning Rory...
Prediction - Maia via submission round 1.

TJ Waldburger
vs.
Mike Pyle Main Card | Welterweight | 170 lbs (77.1 kg) Leaning Pyle I guess, Waldburger is obviously quite a bit younger and might have made enough improvements to get by the aging but still very game Pyle but Pyle is almost as good if not better at Waldburger's specialty.
Prediction - Pyle via TKO round 2.

Pedro Munhoz
vs.
Raphael Assuncao Preliminary Card | Bantamweight | 135 lbs (61.2 kg) Never seen Munhoz fight, tough first fight coming in on short notice though. Prediction - Assuncao via TKO round 3.

I agree with all your picks. But the only one I am on the fence about is Whitaker and Thompson. Thompson cardio is suspect to me, he has gassed before. But I don't think Whittaker will put a lot of pressure on him to gas him out. I really think it is going to be a point fighting style and I prefer to take the over 2 1/2 rd cause I think the fight is going to decision. I don't see either fighter getting a highlight reel KO.
I like Maia and I think many people are overlooking him. I agree with your write up on the this fight.
BOL, let's win some money!

Like the writeup on the Rory/Maia fight. I think Maia dominates in overall experience and well roundedness. He has also looked great at this weight. Rory is a beast, his problem is that he tries to be the perfect fighter and forgets to actually fight. If he comes out pissed off and engages he will beat the snot out of Maia. I though predict and Maia has a serious chin and he will take Rory down. I think once Maia gets him down he will grind out either a submission or a decision. I also think at +240 , I am getting great value for my $ . Maia wins this fight 50% of the time.

yikes.. I have zero faith in Maia after that Shields fight.. I see Rory laying it on Demian early after a humiliating loss to Lawler. This kids stand up is no joke and I got a feeling he punishes Demian tonight. I can understand taking the value on Maia but i think he goes to sleep.
BOL either way
