this MMA board might be at its weakest point since it's inception. you've seen it all. you're a vet. you've won. you've lost. drop some knowledge on these noobs.
what's some of things you've learned "this" year in regards to betting MMA.

The MMA forum has definitely seen a lot of changes over the years. I think you, Sawman and I are one of the few left standing from near the inception of the MMA forum. Back then, there were a lot of good cappers like Refer, Sharpstick, CTM,Crow, Crowat, Hoff, Moneyshot, GSP and Guida who all knew their stuff. Unfortunately, almost all of those guys have left. We have also seen several clowns like Leebone, Artbell and Giga try to make a mockery of it.
Last year, I was very down on the forum and was strongly considering moving exclusively to @MR219MMA. However, I think things are slowly starting to get better. There are several new guys like Ferrari, JimmyGunn, OntheO, and TheIrishCarbomb who are contributing positively. I'm not sure if the forum will ever get back to like it was in the past, but it is definitely a better place today than it was a year ago at this time.

I think the biggest thing I have learned this year is that more frequent MMA scheduling is watering down the overall talent roster and is making capping much more difficult. We are seeing more & more fighters with less than 10, or even 5 professional fights competing, which is making it more difficult to research and make complete assessments of their skill sets. When they do compete again, some have made dramatic improvements, while others have actually regressed. I think my brutal capping record on last weeks UFC180 show is a prime example of this.
As you may have noticed, I have dramatically reduced the size of my plays in order to mitigate some of this risk. I'm especially trying to be more cautious in hammering relatively unknown fighters.

On the other hand, the appearance of so many new and debuting fighters makes it harder for the sports books to set lines in the optimal places, leading to opportunities for bettors to take advantage of good odds on fighters making their UFC debuts and some generous over/under and other props.

I disagree. I think the books have gotten much "sharper" in the last few years and especially with newer or debuting fighters. In the past, you could normally clean up with a least one of these type of situations a card. Now, it is more like one a month if are lucky.
