Good ole Chicago loop holes...Liquor stores are still allowed to stay open if they sell any kinda food. So if they got peanuts, beef jerky or limes, game on.

Jeg, I sold more beer in a 1 week span than I ever have in the last 18 years doing this.
The beer biz is bullet proof. Good times, bad times, people need their fill.
I feel bad for the bar owners. I'm not sure how they recover

So USA has the most deaths now because of this Virus which you would assume China would since it started there, plus Italy has had 45 Doctors die of Virus so that has to be an issue for them.
On a conference call with our International Union Tuesday they were full of bad projections, but they are in sac part of the Country so they must be drinking lots of beers.but they think Dec.before this levels out and maybe 40% of our workforce back to work by then which is still a lot of workers out,so the word was to buckle in and stay home which people in Calif.had a problem doing, they thought it was time to go to the beach.

JEG, just a crying shame a beautiful state and coastline like Califruity fell into the hands of 25 million stupid people but since your family and my brother's family live there I will (graciously) exempt some of you. Our annual spring fling here was a disaster, no baseball and too cold and rainy for golf. Nothing to do but sit around and start cocktail hour about 9 A.M. Oh well, a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do, right? When called on we stepped into the breach and performed admirably. The North Cal folks went home under the guard of a division of Marines and the Texas and Virginia contingents never made it here at all. I got a full refund on all the tickets I had bought earlier (THANK GOD!) so Casa Key is once again quiet and stable.
I don't know how long this is going to last (neither does Donald, btw) but hope all of us survive it and come back strong. I won't look for any baseball before June or July, even if we get lucky then, as S.T. will almost have to be repeated, 2-3 weeks at the minimum. You all keep safe and keep me in your prayers as I will for all of you.

I hope everyone is doing ok.
The MLB is talking about playing games to empty stadiums. That's fine with me if it helps get more games in. The Orioles did that when the city was having riots a year or 2 ago. The broadcast was pretty cool honestly. You could hear everything.

They will probably start at first with no spectators, in order to play as many games as they can, but even that will be hard to do imo, mostly because the county is not on the same page, not even quarantine wise.
The pandemic isn't evenly spread across the country, some places are full epicenters, like Seattle or NY (NY hasn't even reached it's peak), while in other states it's just starting to spread. Besides the issue of not anyone being the same page or even the same timeline, pandemic wise, i look at places like Florida absolutely horrified, people are still going to the beach?! The level of ignorance in those places is mind-boggling, and they will pay a high price for that, out of sheer political incompetence and blunt stupidity.
They were floating 1st of June as the start of the season, i highly doubt it, there are still places where they aren't even testing properly, not to mention the lack of PPE for the medical staff, which are lost doctors and nurses to quarantine, contracting the virus or even death. Add to all of these problems the lack of ventilators, which are critical to at least giving a person with severe symptoms a chance to fight for their life.
Btw, watch Florida flair up in the next 2-3 weeks, those idiots will start dropping like flies...

Out of common decency they should not even be projecting an "open up" date or other crack pipe dream, as is Trump. Getting peoples hopes up then letting the reality set in later will only cause more despair and desperate moves. How are you going to handle travel? You think teams will willingly travel (in enclosed planes) to New York, Miami, Seattle, St. Pete or L.A.? Chicago and Detroit could be under full medical lock-down by 6/1. Will teams have full faith and confidence in their hotels? Airports? Food service?
Will club owners, presidents and executives willingly travel with their teams as a show of confidence?
Stop listening to Trump and pay attention to the medical and pandemic experts (who are ready to have him committed).
This is far from over so let's stop dreaming about satisfying our sports and gambling appetites.

KEY and YAO.
I was going to point out to Mr Key that though CALIFORNIA has had issue's with the Idiots hitting the beaches will he had failed to mention that from the Coastline on the eastern side as Mr YAO points out also think this is a party time, from Flor.to NY the Beaches there are also full,Calif.is going to start fining people as much as 500 bucks if they are out for no real reason which you would think people would know what it means to Quarantine yourself.
You know KEY people that read the Bible will tell you the times we are in now you can find in the bible, but when you look at all the wars going on and how long this Country or others have been at war since WW2 non stop,so wars and fathom are what is suppose to be at issue with us being out of favor with God or whatever you call it based on your beliefs.
So make sure you pray for people and the hard part is praying for someone you dislike and wanting the best for them,it is what makes it hard to do,the people I pray for that I can not stand talking to could save my life,so keep us all in your prayers,Key I have to pay for you to make sure we both get thru this one.

At this point the gambling aspect isn't that important to me. I just want to see some ball and normalcy.
I'm afraid Key is right, it's going to be a long wait.

JEG. old buddy, I could easily pick on the East Coast as well as the West, but I don't have anyone there I want to irritate, like YOU!
Of course the east is as bad as the west and if more Arizonans could rush to Rocky Point or San Diego to frolic in the surf during their enforced leave, YEP, we got plenty of idiots that would be filling up their tanks right now.
Don't be so thin skinned or take such offense. I pray for you and many others, even adversaries and enemies, so let's both stay on the high road and avoid the washes and creek beds that are going to get many of the idiots punched out, maybe their final ticket to who knows where.
I miss the game as much as anyone, but higher priorities have to be honored. I like you guys, and enjoy your opinions, but these idiots looking for entertainment and gambling opportunities do get to be a bit too much

I do have to say not betting on the NCAA CBB though I miss the Tour.very much I am happy to break even on money with that thing, with the small schools playing seniors and freshman starting for the Big Boys it is a bit tuffer to win money now,so not missing the action but do like watching the games.
But as Key has pointed out and now sac this Country has much more problems than playing some sports and us covers yo yos being able to gamble and Key I know your friends would be on there way to SD to spend some time on the beaches.Gas is cheap now, fill them retired people RV's up.

is this weather going to fckin warm up already or what, bro?! with the rain and wind, fishing the des plaines has been rough! fished a couple small ponds with the floating rattl trap and had some success. they shut down the cal sag and a few others around it today and postponed all trout stocking. smart move knowing the idiots will be side by side on opening day.
i see the fox river has been crackin with smallie but that's such a cruise. i may have to grab the waders and head out there soon. hope all is well, bro

I have gotten a few pigs so far this year, but it's been real slow for the most part. The water is still too cold. They won't be spawning till late April at this point.
I'm 10 minutes from the Fox River in Elgin, about 15 min from St. Charles. Haven't tried it yet but might.
Today I lost a Musky and had another follow my lure. Wasn't even trying for Musky but damn were they big. I was on a lake in Carol Stream.
Btw, my work quarantined me this week with pay. The dude I work with has the sniffles. And next week I'm on vacation. I think it will warm up and the fishing will be good.

Sac, the longest home run video is interesting, but, Jose Canseco at 540 feet? Before we had film of it and electronic measurement, Mickey Mantle had three home runs certifiable by highly accurate surveying of over 600 feet. Of course the modern media and MLB do not want to say anything about anything unless it is on video. They have to satisfy the short attention span handicapped folks of course. Even Willie Mays, a contemporary of Mantle said, "Nobody, I mean NOBODY, that ever played this game, hit the ball as hard as Mickey, NOBODY." The stories are legendary, i.e., "That ball was still rising when it went out." That was said by several outfielders. All legend is not fiction, those guys were eye witnesses.
Something else to kick around while we are stymied.

Well KEY that is better than another fish story from our Friends in Chicago,,but anything Willie said was the truth, plus the guys we grew up with were not taking Roid's either, hell with Micky's knees he could of used some of those, plus a lot of those Yankees player were Drunks and were playing hung-over or drinking still.
50s and 60s had great pitching and hitting,Koufax and Gibson threw the Hardest I ever saw that come to mind but Juan was the Best Giants pitcher I ever saw,sad part for those Giants teams was the hated Dodgers were usually a bit better, but those were the days.

Yes JEG, in a personal interview with Bob Feller he once he told me, "Good health and no alcohol Mickey would have been the greatest player ever." That is pretty good perspective because Feller was the first pitcher ever recorded at 100 mph, and was still a young man when Mickey played.
Three other guys that are underappreciated would be Ted Williams, Stan Musial and Hank Aaron. They hit the ball so square, right on the money, that most of their homers were less than 30 feet high at the peak and threatened to kill someone in the bleachers. Also the reason they carried very high batting averages and slugging percentages. If you consistently hit line drives there are a lot of doubles and triples recorded.
Don Newcombe once said "Sure, I got a strategy for pitching to Stan; I throw him my best pitch and go back up third."
I know the youngsters are bored with this s/hit but they don't know what they missed.

Hank Aaron's strikeout rate was incredible for a HR hitter, and compared to today's HR hitters it's laughable.
A couple years ago he was in the booth for a prime time game and said "there's nothing more embarrassing than striking out"
A strikeout is the surest out in baseball. So Hank is right, it ought to be embarrassing.
