We, as Poland, are also a member of the EU, so all the states tried to coordinate their response, which means we all have the same restrictions, more or less. When we were in the emergency state, when everything was shut down, people who came from the EU would go in an automatic 14 days isolation, at their own home and sign a decleration they would not leave their home, for those 14 days, but some of them didn't care and when the police went to check on them and didn't find them home, they would get a fine. This was the procedure for the people coming from areas in the EU, where the virus wasn't so spread out, for the people that came from red zones another protocol was in place, they would be placed in a 14 day quarantine in a hotel or public institution, while being monitored 24/7, by the authorities. After we left the emergency state, the restrictions got a little loose, now we are in an alert state, everything is open, except cinemas, night clubs, theaters, restaurants. In the emergency state we had 200 cases a day, tops, at a population of 18 mil, now since 10 days we have an average of 500 cases a day, because it's summer and people want to enjoy their vacations, so they travel to the seaside and in the mountains, with no regard for social distancing. Now if we want to travel in the EU, most of the countries will require a 14 days quarantine, we are considered and orange zone, because of our spike in cases. Even if we have universal healthcare here, our hospitals are not great, we have 3000 ICU bedsin the whole country and not all of them have ventilators.
Stupidity is universal, besides the actual pandemic, the whole world is fighting another one, the stupidity pandemic. The same happens here, as in the usa, some people think it's a hoax, just the "flu", the goverment wants to control them etc. The worse thing is that many of our outbreaks are in hospitals, old peoples homes, public institutions mainly, because their staffs are careless in their free time and in the outside world, so they bring the virus in the institutiom they work and kill their already vulnerable pacients. And of course we also have our stupid politicians who make things worse, with their rhetoric, saying the goverment can't keep pacients in hospitals, even if their asymptomathic, so now they let people go, in the outside world if they demand it, with no assurance they will go home and avoid other people.
It's sickening to see this rights debate everywhere, everybody talking about their rights, but what about responsability, why do they never talk about that?! There are no rights without responsabilities, that is the social contract. The selfishness of some people, the lack of empathy for others, these things are enraging, and ultimately depressing. And all these problems stem from the same place, everywhere around the world: lack of education. The less educated an individual, the more ignorant he is, the easier he is exploited by scumbag politicians. As for the orange moron, it is beyond me how people can still support him, he is one of the worse pieces of $hit ever, his incompetence has gotten so many people killed in this pandemic...
Anyways, sorry for the long rant, I'm fine where I am, no outbreaks in my town, but a nurse managed to infect over 70 people in an old peoples home, in my county. Otherwise, things will get a lot worse in the future, for sure, people are just that ignorant, selfish and ultimately stupid.
If anything, you take care sac, considering the place where you live and this pandemic... also, glad Key is alright, Arizona is an absolute mess...
