Lines are from 5 dimes.............Bold is who to take......................
St Louis @ Pittsburgh ML +126
St Louis is 7 games back with 13 to go. A month ago the argument was will it be Carpenter or Wainright for the CY young. The answer is neither. Them two are a combined 3-9 the last month. What does that have to do with anything you ask. Nothing in tonights game with Westbrook on mound but as a team when you know you blew it and can't win with your two aces over the last month will take the wind out of any teams sails. Point is the cards have faced reality at this point so I don't see a lot of motivation or caring from them or their manager. Compile that with the 1 game they just had to go play in Florida after being embarassed at home and now traveling to Pitt sounds like disaster.Maholm has terrible numbers but actually pitches well at times against the so called good teams. I would fade St.Louis the rest of the way probably will go 3-10 so if you can get + money against them take it.
Houston @ Washington Under 8 +115
J.Happ and J. Lannan have been solid as of late to say the least. Happ a little better at home then on the road but I like the matchup against the Nats best hitter(Dunn). Big lefty on Big lefty I like Happ. Houston offense is shaky away from the little league field they play on in Houston. The Nats offense ummmmm take a look for your self.
Atlanta @ Philly -1.5 RL EVEN
Minor has given up 14 earned runs in his last 3 starts against very weak offensive teams in the Nats, Stl, and Fla. So philly should score what? about 7. So the question is? Will Halladay give up 5. Probably not I will put my money on Halladay to not give up over 5 everyday of the week. Especially at even money. Halladay is one of the best pitchers over the last 5 years and now he is in a playoff race. (at least for a couple of more days until philly sweeps Atl) If you havent noticed philly has looked at the calendar and realized it is September now so they have decided to play baseball again. Atl was not supposed to be in the race this long and the next couple of days should prove that. They were fortune the phils have taken the past couple of months and the NL East is soft again this year.
Tampa Bay @ Yanks Under 9.5 Even
Sheilds has only given up 1 earned run against the Yanks in his last 2 starts (13.1 innings). Hughes has given up 7 earned in his last 12.2 against Tampa. That is a little much for me but at home when these games are huge I expect him to be a little better than that tonight. 4 of the last 7 between these two teams have gone under. 4 of 7 that doesnt mean much? Well the 3 that went over were when Garza started and you should know by now that the yanks crush him.TB at + money looks good as well but like the under in case of a 4-2 walk off win by the yanks or something.
Kansas City @ Detroit-1.5 RL +135
Chen 9 earned in last 9 innings against Detroit. The over is 7-1 the last 8 matchups between the 2 teams in Detroit. That will probably continue as Detroit will score 7 or 8 by therselves tonight. Galarraga has only given up 2 earned in his last 11.1 innings against KC though and has been pitching well. He has 6 no decisions in in last 8 starts so KC is just what he needs to get that win tonight.
Giants @ Cubs Under 8.5 Even
Cain and Big Z have been lights out as of late. Cubs are coming off a hot road trip should be big let down now that there back in Chicago (might score 2 runs) San Fran has been fighting their asses off as of late would be easy to come off a homestand and look past the cubbies.Come out flat and look up in the 8th inning and be down 1 or 2 to nothing. The winds at Wrigley can be crazy but pretty much irrelevant in the over/unders this year.
Baltimore @ Red Sox +188
Bergesen in his last four starts has given up 1,1,2,1 earned runs against Tor, Yanks, Boston, and Angels respectively. Those are good offensive teams to put those numbers up. Buckholz is good but that is too much value to not take Baltimore when they have a hot pitcher on the mound. Also does Boston really think there still in the hunt.
LEANS
Reds-124 6-0 in the last 6 games against Milwaukee and 8-1 for the year. They really want to close out the Cards for good and real good price on them.
Oakland-140 Sox are DONE. Cahill has been awesome but did give up 6 earned his last start. Little to much to lay 140 for me with not really knowing what he will do this start.
San Diego +113 Seems like a coin flip game to me would suggest to take + money in situatuions like this. However SD is 3-0 vs Dodgers last 3 meetings. The Dodgers also scored a total of 3 runs combined in those games. San Diego is in must win and the Dodgers whole front office is a mess so if management doesnt care why should the players.
