69 Years Ago Today

The Allied invasion of France began, referred to as "D-Day" and becoming one of the less celebrated days of glory in American history. Lest we forget, many of the heroes of the game we love were also heroes on that day, although unsung and now almost forgotten. I can never forget the contribution of Yogi Berra, who drove a landing craft all day into enemy shelling to deliver troops to the beach, and then ferry the wounded back to the troop ships. All day, time after time, into the shelling. That is just one story, but I offer it as a tribute to all the former baseball players that gave so much on that day. We should all stop and reflect a moment today on what others have given. Those among us that are Believers should pause for prayer.
