A question for you Yankee fans

Why is Joba Chamberlain still pitching for the Yankees?

I just don’t get it. The Yankees have the highest payroll in baseball and the best record in baseball so why do they keep bringing in a pitcher with that is 1-4 with a 5.77 ERA and has more blown saves than saves? I mean I could understand if they invested a shit load of money in him but he is making less than $500,000 a season.

I'm not a Yankee fan, but let me take a crack at it (even though I sense that your post is meant to be inflammatory and not inquisitive).

- He's only 24.

- They're in first place and not at any real risk of falling out of playoff position at this point.

- He's proven that he can get major league hitters out and his stuff is above average, so I guess they figure he can figure his troubles out in the majors.

- Who is the better option?  Gaudin?  Park?

And that wasn’t comparing notre dame to the yankees. Just that bringing up championships that were won decades before most of us were even born reminded me of that notre dame fan.

Your anger is understandable. If most people challenged someone to a contest, ran their mouth, and then went 16-24 and were down over 9 units they probably wouldn’t want it brought up either.

Of course, most people wouldn’t be so stupid as to do that in the first place.
