Before Bonds did steroids, he was the best player in the game during his time. Bonds could steal bases as well and his eye was better than anyone I have seen since I been on this earth watching mlb.

Bonds was great and had one of the best swings. He used PEDs and tarnished his career. Now on to Judge you cannot even say a bad thing about this kid he does everything the right way. Media asked him questions about the record for the last month and he always talked about the team and winning first. He is what ever player and person should be humble. We just witnessed an absolutely once in a lifetime record broken be a kid who is a superstar athlete. Yankee fan or not Judge is worth the admission to a game or watch him on TV he is a not just a hitter he has a rocket arm in the outfield. Its so hard to compare these 2 athletes. For me Judge is the true HR hitter.

Correct and furthermore, players have been cheating throughout history. They used to snort cocaine in the dugouts in the 70s, a pitcher threw a no hitter whilst on LSD, pre Jackie Robinson, segregated leagues.
Bonds was the best in spite of being an asshole. Every AB was materpiece theater. Pitchers were spent even if they retired him.

You all make valid points. Bonds was a pretty arrogant and shitty person.
however all eyes was on him especially during that 73 home run season.
I remember as a little kid turning on ESPN because they would air out the giants game and you could see every one on their feet knowing there’s a good chance of him being walked because no pitcher was willing to pitch to him. One could be on base and the pitcher wasn’t gonna pitch to him. His swing was on another level.. while I respect what judge did this season, it’s not the same as bonds single season home run.. roids or not Barry bonds delivered a masterful season.

I also wished they stopped making it seem like bonds career was non existent. If it wasn’t for him sosa and McGwire baseball would be dead. his eye for the ball as mentioned above by other posters was spot on. He could read pitches and make you pay for it by either hitting it or walking.. by far the best slugger I’ve seen to date.
Couldnt agree more.
The impossible only takes longer….

Barry Bonds is the greatest player of all time. The fact that people are debating who has the single season record for HRs is hilarious to me, but really it’s MLBs fault. Selig and co. (including that dipshit Manfred) looked the other way the entire time during the steroid era due to the long ball bringing more excitement to the game and increasing revenues. F them. They have failed to take any accountability during this era and have instead put it all on the players. Bonds, Rose (different story), Clemens, all these guys should be in the HoF. For these guys to not be in the hall is baseball failing to recognize an important era in the history of the sport and take any responsibility for allowing it to happen in the first place.
Don’t let the last play affect the next play

I absolutely despise Bonds but as a baseball fan I feel that the guy was the greatest at what he does. I also agree that there is/was cheating in the game but Im not so sure in his case steriods gave him the plate presence that he had.
Roids seemed to enhance his concentration. And he was swinging to explode the ball. For 5 years he was a machine. Lifelong Giants fan. Bonds teams were close but never won in the playoffs. Bourquelounger chairs ? Balco ?
