ALCS GAME 4 | TEXAS RANGERS ML & ALT LINES

TEXAS RANGERS

Matt Harrison: When he has command of his pitches (which he has demonstrated down the stretch), he's very tough and he's going up against a Tigers lineup that could possibly be without Victor Martinez tomorrow (oblique on the home run tonight; in addition to the absence of Young).

Rick Porcello: He has rarely shown the ability to shut down teams for 6 innings, and I don't think that he is likely to do so against the Rangers (even if Beltre is unavailable for this game). Mainly, I don't trust his youth and lack of playoff experience. And his full season 4.75 ERA is a sore spot.

Detroit prevailed in its "must win" spot in Game 3, but I think that the Rangers take Game 4 and put the Tigers back in the hole. The good news for Detroit is that they have Verlander in Game 5, Scherzer in Game 6 and Fister in Game 7 . . . so they are not out of it. Regardless of the outcome, I am looking to play the Tigers in Game 5.

Game 4 is game 7???????? Um no. It isn't. So funny that people seem to have the series planned out. Did you have the Rangers beating Price, Shields, Verlander, Scherzer??? You don't know what will happen from day to day. Ridiculous to say game 4 is game 7 IMO.

Detroit's hitting .400 against Harrison in 97 PAs, plus they're at home and need to even the series. Leyland knows he can't go down 1-3 against Texas and will pull Porcello in a heartbeat to stop a Texas rally. Michael Young has the best numbers against Porcello but he's in a bad slump; Beltre is semi-hurt. Cruz is 1 for seven against Porcello. I think he's had his shot at glory.

If Detroit can keep Kinsler off the bases, they will win this game. BOL with your wager, but I think Detroit has to gut out a win in this situation.

2 units under 9.5 and 1 unit on det ml here.  Porcello at home is a better pitcher, little bit of mo from last night.  Both teams know how huge this game is and i believe leyland will play a lot o small ball much like he has done thus far so this under rests on Porch imo.  He needs to keep them to no more than 2-3 thru 5-6 and this under shud hit.  1 run game either way imo. 4-3 tigs

I will be playing 8 units on Texas and 1 unit on the run line and 1 unit on each of the alternate run lines.

It is a long shot on the -6.5 run line (okay, so all of these) but if I am right that Porcello is at serious risk of getting pounded, I like the idea of putting a unit (1 unit = standard regular season unit) on the big Texas win.

I think tonight is a MUST win for DET, thus making it a "game 7 scenario" for them.

Texas has lost to Matt Moore (a very impressive young arm it had never seen) and Doug Fister (arguably Detroit's best player over the past 2 months) in these playoffs.  Don't let last night deceive you today.

Remember to factor in these things here: The *RANGERS* have better players, a deeper roster, and more talented pitchers available. As far as the Tigers are concerned, some of their better players are currently licking wounds.

I agree with you for today's game. Matt Moore was an unknown sensation . . . despite the youth.

Porcello is just as youthful but we also have seen what he is capable of doing over an extended period of time, and that was a 4.75 ERA this season. Obviously, anything can happen, but with Harrison vs. Porcello, I feel pretty good about the Rangers for Game 4. Hopefully they win really big.
