Reasons: 1) This is the last game of a 20 games in 20 days for the Phillies, including day games in 3 of the last 4 in brutally hot weather. This is an older team that can't wait for the off day tomorrow 2) I know, I know Lannan has never beaten the Phils. Don't you think he knows that and is tired of hearing that? I've seen all his starts against them and he hasn't been that brutal in many of them (i.e no run support, one bad inning, etc). I think he has a solid outing today 3) I don't expect much from the Phils line-up today.. Utley is playing his first full day game after a night game since coming back, also 3 straight days, lefty vs. lefty ( I know, Utley has good numbers vs. Lannan because Lannan is afraid to hit him since he broke his hand in his debut). Howard vs. leftys (can't believe that friggin contract that starts next year) and to a lesser extent Ibanez who also hasn't had a day off in a while because of Victorino's injury 4) anyone that has seen Oswalt since he's been off the DL knows he still doesn't have is 100% fastball and I think he will struggle in the heat. Also, Oswalt struggled in Washington in his Phils debut last year. 5) I think the Nats are sick and tired of continually losing to the Phils and hearing all the Phils fans in their ballpark. Though their record against them stinks, the games are usually close until they blow it in the later innings.. I think they are due for a series win and will be excited for todays game. 6) I do think the one positive for Phils fans is that Rollins is sitting today. Please do not re-sign him next year! I see with the line movement many people are thinking the same way, but I think it is the right side. My humble 2 cents
