I was at Game 4 in 2001. By far one of the most insane atmospheres I've ever encountered. October 31, Halloween and a FULL MOON, no less, in the wake of September 11th. It was eerie.
And then Tino's tying home run in the bottom of the ninth.. UNREAL. (When Paulie is rounding second I can still point myself out in the first row of the left field seats jumping up and down with my buddy)
And, of course, Jeter's game winner.
I'm gunna miss the old girl.

opening day in 72 - top of the 1st - walk(there goes the perfect game) basehit (there goes the no hitter) three run homer ( there goes the shut out! 15 games out 9 games into the season. Sat in the upper deck of the original stadium before the remodel and before Steinbrenner. Now that is a FAN! Back a few more times since then. Last was Phils/ Yanks and saw a great pitching matchup and Shilling lost. YANKS WIN!

October 20, 2004:
The Red Sox defeat the Yankees 10–3 in Game 7 at Yankee Stadium,
becoming the first team in baseball history (and only the third team in
major league sports) to win a seven-game series after losing the first
three games, and giving the team its 11th American League pennant,
marking the first time in 100 years that Boston had defeated New York
to claim the AL title.

Two years ago...I was working in NYC for two days and took the subway down to the stadium during a day game. I tried to sneak inside for peak...got thru the tunnel, got a peak at the field...thought I was "IN"...then preceded to be escorted out. I never had a chance to see a game at Yankee Stadium, but at least I DID get to see the field for scant moments!!!
My best and only memory of Yankee Stadium!!!

iron mike, as a yankee fan the ENTIRE 2001 postseason. Yes i know they ended up losing game 7 to arizona which still haunts me today as the most crushing loss ive had in any sports, but the way they played the entire postseason was amazing. With it being a month since 9/11, down 0-2 at home to a great oakland team yankee stadium was as loud in the a's series as it had been since 96. Then knocking off the 116 win mariners. And of course games 4 and 5 against arizona, i dont think those games could be topped. I just always think back to game 5 of that years 1st round series when they beat oakland, the place was going nuts all game.

1. It was 1953, my grandfather, who work in a clothing store in the Bronx and sold suits/clothes to half the Yankees, took me to my first ballgame. We get off the subway and walk down the street, then my grandfather walks me thru the turnstile and we go inside this very large building...we walk up some ramps...then we turn and walk down a ramp....In front of me was the greenest grass that I had ever seen in my life and on this green grass, under a beautiful blue sky, were a bunch of guys...they looked like kids....warming up to play...what is still today....a game.
2. The first game that I took my son to.....He was 8 years old; we had box seats down the 3rd baseline and we got there in time to see the "scrubs" taking batting practice...the cage was still up. We were down by the rail, my son and I had gloves on, Gerald Williams was taking batting practice. Gerald hit a ball that started to curve right at us....my son put his glove up and so did I....the ball came at him and he and I trapped the ball between his mitt and the railing. One of the Yankee Stadium staff ran down to see how he was and you could see the stitches of the ball imprinted on his wrist; we went to the medical station to have some ice put on his wrist....the employee took the baseball that my son had caught, went down to the clubhouse....AND had the ball autographed by Gerald and brought it back to my son.
Just to add....My favorite memory of Yankee Stadium was being at the game BEFORE the greatest game ever played...sitting in the bleachers...and getting a piece of the goalposts after Pat Summerall kicked the winning fieldgoal that gave the GMen the chance to play the Colts for the championship.

-game 5 ALDS Leyritz HR in the bottom of the 15th off Tim Belcher. mattingly's last game in pinstripes -1996 WS game 6, series clincher -righetti's no hitter 7/4/83...beach boys used to play a concert every july 4th after the game ended
those are greatest games probably and ive been to a bunch, not as much recently...other memories
-when i used to work in the city 96, 97, 98 on friday nights i would take the 4 uptown and get a sandwich and go sit in the bleachers for $6 or $8 by myself with my walkman...feet up, watching a game
-sitting front row on the 3rd base side when my brothers and i were much younger. in bewteen innings steve palermo came over to say hello and gave my brothers' official AL balls...i didnt get one
-sitting in the bleachers with my dad and brothers watching BP 10-12 years later and jim edmonds of the angels hits a bp bomb that hits off the chest of the guy 5 rows behind us (who didnt put down his beer)...ball rolls down a few steps and under my dad's chair. he picks it up and gives it to me...maybe to make up for the steve palermo incident

When they choked and blew the series to the sox on 2004......never forget it!!
These are memories of games you were actually at. And since you probably didn't become a Sox fan until after they won the World Series in 2004, you likely weren't at that game.
Anyhow, the Boone HR off Wakefield to complete the Sox/Pedro choke in 2003 was a better game....

damn dude u are really in every thread hating on the yanks.... Dude like i Posted before I"M A DIEHARD SOX FAN for 17 years, I've had agnony and pain dealing with the sox at the house of pain, but it was a sad time yesterday knowing it wont be there.
As for my best memories (In no order):
1) As a very young child (DAD is/was DIehard yanks fan) going to the Yanks game for my bday and meeting Ricky Bones from the Brewers.I know he sucks and shit, but he came over signed for me and talked with us for a while. It was pretty cool. He tried to get me a team signed Brewers bat but that didn't work.
2) I was at Dice-K's debut at Yanks Stadium two years ago. What a great game. I had on my Papi Jersey, got heckled like no other but it was sweet seeing the sox win and seeing Dice-K live for the first time.
3) My Favorite memory and probably always favorite will be game 7 of the ALCS in 2004 OCTOBER 20, 2004. That was the best game I've ever seen because it meant so much to the Sox Nation. Nothing was better than forcing my Father to stay with my ass to watch the Sox Celebrate! Damon will forever be a hero for that game, but hes still a traitor.

1) Wells' Perfect Game. Amazing. I was lucky to be there.
2) Arriving late to the Stadium...Yanks losing 7-0 already to Texas in like the 3rd inning. Staying alllll they way till the 14th or so when Posada hit a walk off HR to complete the comeback after I had moved down to field level seats because the others had no faith and had left the building.
3) Walking on the field and through that tunnel...and around the back near the clubhouse when I was working for a NY newspaper. This history...I though to myself as I walked through the tunnel...had seen the likes of Dimaggio, Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Mattingly, Jackson, Jeter, and Berra. Just mind-numbing.
It WILL be missed.

ya know fellas, I don't think they are tearing down the Stadium at all. They are pulling out peices like they did during the 70's renovation but I have heard the Staduim will stand and high schools and other groups will be allowed to play in there. I am certain there are others in the know more than me but I was not about to contribute to SteinholeT's stupind posts.
I scrap shit like that from the bottom of my boots. I tend not to get into a discussion - cause it is jus shit.
Anyway, the Stadium stands I beleive.
