Congrats on your wins BM. I usually play a parlay evryday and am planning on tailing you. I have sent you a friends request, and if you would accept I would greatly appreciate it. That way I can go to your page and find your thread easier. Congrats again and BOL with your wagers.

Wow, great day Blind! I played a small amount on a 4-teamer yesterday that paid out 21-1. I'm doing the same today at 27-1. Can't resist getting a max payout on the SWEEP! Thanks so much!

Let's get this today. So close yesterday but no cigar
Actually, with hedging you could've won some money last night no matter
what happened. Since the Seattle game was late (10) & the other 3
were all but over by then. By 10 we knew that Washington & Colorado
were winners & SanFran tried to come back but lost by 1.
Using a calculator https://www.bobbybucks.com/hedge_calculator.php
put in 4 units for your initial wager, the 11.78 potential units for the parlay, and the odds for the Angels to win the hedge (-114 in my book.) That gives you your hedge wager of 8.41 units to cover the total initial 4 units & make a profit of 3.37 units no matter what happened.

hardtimer, i'm quite new to the mechanics of hedging...could you state exactly what bet(s) you would have placed last night before the latest (ARZ) game to lock in that 3.37 units of profit

oops, i guess u were referring to Friday's, not Sunday's action...doesn't matter...could you elaborate on exactly the bet to be placed before the last game to lock in the 3.37unit profit

Thats a good point and has been brought up before. And I will mention again. This thread is not about advanced game management but depending on your level of confidence or greed, a person probably should hedge when possible to lock in money as Hardtimes mentions.

Yup they really do need an edit.
For Friday night what I did, because the game timing worked out perfectly, was saw that the Nats & Rockies games were pretty much over (late 8th/9th inning) and they were winning by several runs. I assumed that the Giants were gonna lose, even though they tried to mount a 9th inning comeback. So we were left with only 1 potential parlay left out of the 4, the one with Nats/Col/Sea. (If the Giants actually did win, that'd just be a bonus.)
Plug your numbers into the hedge calculator above. Use 4 units for your initial wager, since you're trying to get back ALL your units bet for ALL 4 parlays, BUT use only the units (11.78) that are in play for the last remaining parlay. Look up the odds for the last game (Angles/Seattle) & plug in the odds for the Angels to win (-114).
That gives you the hedge wager you need to place on the Angels, which was 8.41 units. So if Seattle actually won, you'd win your parlay & net 3.37 units (11.78 parlay minus 8.41 hedge bet). If the Angels won, which was the case, you'd lose your parlay, but win the hedge bet (7.38 hedge units minus 4 units for the parlays).
You don't have to bet the exact hedge amount if you don't want to, it just gives you even money no matter what happens. If you feel like taking a risk & think the parlay will come through, bet less on the hedge, and vice versa.
I'm also working on coming up with a way to try to lessen the effects of losing on a night like last night where there were 2 early losers & you knew there'd be no parlay winners. Have to go through Blind's picks and see what the daily trends as far as wins versus time of day are to see if it's worth it.

Completely understood. I actually agree with the way you're keeping stats, it makes things simpler. Just wanted to throw out there what I did to stave off a losing night.
Keep up the good work!

I'm actually still pissed at myself that I missed the sweep you got the other day because I didn't see the early game at work. Had to substitute what I considered an "equivalent" game later to fill the spot. Actually ended up hitting 1 parlay out of the 4.

The payout Potential today isn't as good as some but I really feel strongly that we will hit something today. Let's end the week strong!
Yes I noticed the Odds are getting tighter as we progress into the season. I also have a feeling that Favorites may go on a winning streak soon to level the % to where they should be. Today and Tomorrow should produce for us, but you never know. I am always looking for a better way tho.It would be super sweet to end this week with another sweep.

Last 3 days were awful so for a bit I will just play my top 4 picks(they may also be Favs). I will get away from the random selection, and I feel that I will win more sweeps this way. Nothing I hate worse tan loosing 3 or more days in a row.Picks are listed from best (1) to worse (4).
