This is mainly used for betting favorites to make your own -1 line (mainly to reduce the juice on larger chalk favorites). Whatever you bet on the money line, whatever the winnings are bet it on the run line.
Example: Say you liked Minnesota at -155, -1.5 +150 runline
Bet 155 to win 100 and bet 100 to win 150 on Minnesota -1.5
You now have Minnesota 1RL for -103 odds instead of -155
1
If they win by 2 or more you win $250, if they win by 1 you push. If they lose you lose $255 and not $387.50
So your risking $255 to win $250, which comes out to be a line of -103
To do the +1RL, its just the opposite:
Example: If you liked the Kansas City Royals today, line was +155, +1.5 -140 run line
Bet $140 to win $100 on the RL, then bet $100 on KC ml to win $155.
You now have KC +1 for +106 odds instead of -140
IF KC wins the game you win $255, if they lose by 1 you push, if they lose by 2 or more, you lose $240 and not $357.
So your risking $240 to win $255 which is a line of +106.
By using the 1RL Calculator you are saving over 30% and that is what I like. In general I really don't like any bet over -130 odds"
