Can't trust this Astros bullpen to hold a lead but I'll take my shot with one of the most under-rated pitchers from last year in Myers. Last year he's had solid stats with a 3.56 FIP (#34), 3.67 xFIP (#35), and 2.73 K/BB ratio. He's had a really nice first game but the bullpen blew the lead for him. LeCure, is not even a starter, but is forced into action due to Bailey's injury. Regardless, the guy had an ERA of 4.50 lat year with a 1.56 WHIP. His FIP of 5.04 and xFIP of 4.71 are some of the lowest in the league (keep in mind he didn't have enough starts to qualify). I know Myers has gotten hit hard by a number of Reds hitters in the past, but with Rolen being out and facing a #6 starter on an opposing team, I think this is worth a shot.

Everyone knows that Liriano had a phenomenal year in 2010, and was an 'advanced stats' stud. But having backed him in his first start (yes, I'm bitter, since that was my 1st and only loss (so far) of the year) , I know first hand that something is not right with him. His velocity was down and his 'shoulder' issues are a concern, especially early in the season. Keep in mind that his HR/9 ratio was only 0.42 last year (one of the best in the league) but he allowed 2 'bomb's' in his first outing. Well, the Yankess are called the 'Bronx Bombers' for a reason. I know Burnett is nothing special, but his command has been really good in spring-training, and he had 6 K's to only 1 BB in his first outing of the season (very promising). He did give up 3 ER's in 5 innings, but was playing with a cold in that game. One thing about Burnett though is that he is 7-2 in April over the last couple of years. Liriano, on the other hand is, 3-7 in the same time-span (in April). Hmmm. Add in the fact that the Twinkies are 0-5 in Liriano's starts against New York, while Burnett's teams are 7-2 in his starts against Minnesota, and this becomes a very 'manageable' price to pay to back the Bombers today.
