Alex Cora has done an admirable job with frankly, a team that isn't very good. In fact, starting pitching is their only strength. While they rank 1st in ERA due to their starters, their bullpen and inability to put up runs continues to cost them games.
Cleveland ranks 4th in team ERA and it's a combination of good starting pitching and an amazing bullpen. In fact, their bullpen ranks 1st in all of baseball with a 1.76 ERA and and a 1.04 WHIP.
Cleveland's offense currently ranks 7th in baseball; slashing; .254 avg/.323 OBP/.411 SLG,/.734 OPS. Boston's offense is currently ranked 26th, hitting; .226 avg/.303 OBP/.372 SLG/.675 OPS.
On the bump for the Sox today is Garrett Whitlock. He's been very good in his first 3 starts, with a 1.26 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Although, he only has one win to show for it. He's also pitching much better than projected and I expect some regression to kick in soon. Throw in the fact that he's yet to make it past the 5th inning, means we'll hopefully see 4 innings from the unreliable Boston pen.
Tanner Bibee will counter for Cleveland. I talked about Bibee in an earlier write up. He has definitely been underachieving to date. He has two clunkers and one gem to start the season. He followed his first dud with a well pitched game and I expect the same tonight. He wasn't rookie of the year runner up last season b/c he sucks. I would be very surprised if he doesn't pitch well tonight against a weak Boston offense. One that will potentially be without their best hitter to date, Tyler O'neill. O'neill received 8 stitches after his collision with Rafael Devers yesterday and is in concussion protocol. I'm assuming he'll sit today. However, even if he plays, I don't like their chances against Bibee and the Cleveland pen.
Again, Steven Vogt deserves recognition for doing an awesome job with this club. He's got em playing great ball. I expect them to add to their +35 run differential today and bring their record to an impressive 12-5.

Like this Cleve tm & the play today. They're not great in any 1 facet but solid in almost all & seem to always be around in the late innings even in their subpar gms. Get it

Based on line movement and confirmed lineups, I'm going to make this a 3 unit play. It's about that time in the season when I start to increase units anyway.

Really surprised Vogt went to Beede with just a 4 run lead. He’s the worst guy in their pen. Rookie manager mistake. He’ll learn from it, but might be too late .
