Question

Yanks bats are ICE cold and there is no two ways about that. They come in Detroit being down 0-2 in the series and the Tigers smell blood in the water. Tigers got their ace in Verlander pitching, who has been dominant in the playoffs and in his last outing against these Yanks. Verlander's strength, which is his fast ball, may be the key that wakes these Yanks bats up. Right now the Yanks can't hit the curve balls, the sliders, change-ups, etc. They are good fast ball hitters and I think they will make Verlander work tomorrow. This is it for these Yanks as they know if they lose this game then the series is pretty much over. I don't believe I need to comment on Hughes even though he pitched well against the O's in his last outing.

love the over and personally am leaning towards the yankee&#x27;s ML. I think verlander is over valued right now even with jeter out because of how he performed in the series against the A&#x27;s, the A&#x27;s bats struck out the most during the regular season and i think the yanks will be more patient at the plate thusly verlander wont be going very deep into the game i think verlander gets taken out around the 5th or 6th inning possibly 7th if leyland lets him but definitly verlander&#x27;s pitch count will be high early in the game imo

Absolutely love this pick RK. Win or lose tonight the Yanks will score some runs. All they are hearing is they cant hit and now going against the Tigers Ace.

Not sure if the Yanks win this game has Hughes hasn't been the greatest but it wont be due to lack of run support.

Things that are problematic:This being a figurative "must-win" game for the Yanks, I think they&#x27;ll pitch Robertson and Soriano extensively even if they&#x27;re down.  Generally when I&#x27;m leaning towards an under, I&#x27;m doing it to fade starting pitching.  But I usually will only make it an official pick and risk serious units on it if there&#x27;s a Plan B that would get me to the same result.  I don&#x27;t really see the Plan B here other than another Valverde implosion.For instance, let&#x27;s say Hughes goes 6 and Verlander leaves the game after 7 with a 2-2 tie, or the Tigers up 3-2 or something.  Well, your fade of SP won&#x27;t get you there on it&#x27;s own, so you need some bullpen help.  The Yankees throw their two bullpen aces out there for an inning or more a piece, and the odds are they keep it tied or to a one run deficit.  Your only shot at winning is a Tigers bullpen implosion of 3&#x2B; runs.  So with a game likely to give 3 or more innings to guys with solid RAs like Robertson, Soriano and Benoit, are you willing to bet real money on Verlander giving up more than 3 runs? Because to win this bet, you need one team to score more than 4.
