Addition by subtraction giving up Jack Fogerty. They did it with their young guns. Major props to head coach, AJ Hinch the way he managed all those bullpen games with only Skubal and Montero as the starters. Now with both Mize and Olson back, they don't even need Montero for the playoff roster. I like their chances in the playoffs. Hopefully, they win their next 5 games, then they can clinch a playoff berth and punt the season finale and that will set up Skubal as the game 1 starter in the best of 3 wild card round. 
If Beau Brieske didn't pull that Houdini act on Saturday, we would be saying same damn Tigers.
But that freaking Manimal comes in 2nd and 3rd nobody out 9th inning, against Baltimore at Camden. The odds of getting out of that jam were very slim, maybe 5%. But he did it, then Tigers win in 10, then win the next day and now win again Tuesday. That was the defining moment on Saturday, they should have lost that game, then who knows if they would have any focus to win Sunday 
I'm not sure because in a 3 game series, the way Corbin Burnes mowed down the Tigers twice.
Well if Detroit clinches before the season finale Sunday, then hopefully they can lay down the Sunday game and concede the 5 seed to Kansas city then take the 6 seed and face Houston.
In this scenario, they'll have Skubal facing Valdez in game 1, both guys pitched Tuesday so they'll both be on 1 weeks rest game 1, I like Detroit and the AJ Hinch angle coming back to Houston.
Then they can face Cleveland in the divisional round and it sets up nicely for the LCS
I think some credit has to be given to Javier Baez, he has a very important role as mentor and cheerleader for this young team. Even though Baez couldn't produce much on the field as his skills have obviously declined since his Cubs days, his presence has an intangible benefit for this overachieving young team
