@leventis72
I liked Fernandomania he is a Hispanic icon in L.A. he had a high leg kick when he pitched like Juan Merishall and twisting of the body like Luis Tiant loved them all. Those were good old fashion mlb memories I had growing up watching dodger games on tv with Vince Scully on the mic You will be missed dedicate 2024 world series in his memory . Let's get done dodger blue!

1981 as a Rookie he came out like a Rocket, Killed my Giants for years. ROY and MVP was unheard of in same season before him. He did fire up LA for sure.

If true he was ahead in time for doing that. These days it happens everyday in life. It happens in littleleague high school baseball we just have to deal with it. And move on in life. I was only comparing his pitching style to Fernandos that's all.

Jeg is correct. Have never heard of a high schooler hitting anyone with a bat during a game. Although maybe it does happen and not make the news.

@Token13
You mention Marichal in a Dodger thread and Fernando has been compared to Sandy Koufax who was on the mound that day as they pitched against each other alot. Koufax was very wild when he came up and took a couple years to become the pitcher he became, for that reason he would not throw at batters. Marichal had no issue with it and had hit a Dodger player so the Manager wanted Koufax to throw at him, he refused so catcher, Roseboro, threw the ball back to pitcher and it was said it grazed Marichal ear so Marichal reach back and clocked the catcher in the head with the bat.
I also have not heard about LL baseball bats being used as weapons but anything is possible it seems.

@gotime
He was making sure he had all his catchers gear on correctly maybe he had it on backwards. Getting back to the topic I was only comparing pitching style that's it not what he did with his bat that's irrelevant Referring to pitching only!

My dad is a Dodgers fan and I was born in La in 1980. 1981 was wild. Cy Young and Rookie of the Year. Will probably never happen again as it never happened before.
