My gambling career wasn't pretty as well. Started 4 months ago, lost 30 units in a span of 5-6 weeks. I was so emotional after losing that I end up betting more than I can afford. 3 months after, I clawed my way back up, made the 30 units back, and right now I am (if not mistaken) up by 2 units. I learned to be patient and not emotional when losing. I tried my best to bet same amounts, and little by little, I made my money back.
I cannot say that I will remain on the plus side the rest of my life, but the lessons I learned when I lost that 3k money is more than enough to teach me that gambling is just gambling. Sports is supposed to be fun. Sports is supposed to keep us entertained. It's not a way of making money permanently. It shouldn't be on top of our to-do list every single day. I learned all those the hard way, but that's how it works. Had I won 100 units or 200 units, I don't think I'll be able to get all those teachings.
Hang in there kid. Have faith. Live life. Love life. Like chuck and others had said, you have lots of other great things going great for you. Those are the things/people that you should keep, not this gambling thing. This is only supposed to be our past time, not our life support.

Look-there is a way to possibly control this and still gamble... the buzz we all get when we hit the submit button...this won't be easy at first but trust me, when I drink one beer now ns. way more in college, it feels like 10...you adjust.
This way you can get the buzz without real damage-the spend some time with the family

Bet the games that you are affordable, and flat betting is essential. Good luck!

Dude ik exactly how you feel. Im so deep into gambling its ridiculous. I've been up and down so much its the worst feeling but i learned from it. I was betting like an animal before putting too much on games and making crazy parlays. Sure some of them hit but i learned. Now when i bet i have a set limit i learned from my mistakes i would never go all out on any single game no matter how good it looked on paper. This is sports anything can happen. Just learn from this buddy. You will get through it i promise you. If you continue to bet just come up with your own unit system. Bet a reasonable amount if your going to bet. Hang tough buddy and disregard the assholes. I dont see why people are being such dicks to your throughout this thread. We are all the same, we all have the same interests here. Thats to make money you never want to see a fellow member in the covers community go down. Good luck with everything man.

Rock, you sound like you have talent. However, you have only yourself to blame. You should no better to go "all in" on a play. No such thing. Really think about it, you went "all in" against last years World Series champions.
You don't have to quit gambling. Start over with $100. Bet $2 a game. If you really have talent and you can control your bankroll, you can be successful.
What worries me the most about you, yes even thou you are a stranger, is your ignoring the real important things in life like your family and relationship.
Repair your life, control your emotions, and don't give up on yourself.

There's only one thing that beat's gamblers.. Greed...puttin' all your marbles in one hat...is a no..no....Gambling is in your blood , as well as all of ours..Take a step back, learn from your mistakes, it's a rollercoaster ride that never ends..Be smart...never chase... I was always taught, never let any one spend your money for you...Do your own homework...read, listen and see what other people think on games..But you make your own decision..if it's with your gut go with it!!! I could go on and on... But you will turn it around, It will take time, but really, where are we all going..today's games or tommorow's. Keep your head high..

what is the saddest thing about gambling....? In my opinion it is definitely this...
When I was younger... ( I am only 19 now) I used to love watching sports just because it was the big game. Every big play .... all the good stuff for the love of the game.
Now I cant get into a game unless its one of my favorite teams unless I have money on it. And I cant watch a game without saying oh wow they just back door covered right there... lol.
Prime Example... Packers Seattle game.. Would of been nice to sit back and bash the NFL and laugh like most but no Im sitting here in disgust because I had Packers ML.
I say almost every month I am going to stop and I never do ... have been up alot multiple times and I tell my self make this house money last.... never lasts.
I say get out .. as most of us will. But who are we to talk and say get out when were gambling everyday.
Good luck buddy. Sports are exciting without the money I guess it just takes time to realize that again... but im sure after that first game where your like wow this was so easy I could of made a fortune on this you get right back into it.
The only way to stop is to drop it... dont look at lines... dont talk about it.... delete communication with people who all they do is talk gambling.
Once again .... good luck from one of many of us here who have the disease

bet with your brain, not with your heart. its hard, but CONTROL your emotions. if you become emotional you will bet with heart and convince yourself of something that is not real, and thats how you will lose. only bet what you can afford. do this as a hobby, be confident with your picks. chip away here and there, dont ride or die on 1 big game. LEARN YOUR LESSON when you lose big....this degenerate thing is in fact a disease but most diseases can be cured or become better.... i was up large one time and threw it all on one big game. this happened twice. lost it all twice. but the important thing is that i learned from this and not to do it again. i agree that being a child enjoying the game has much more value than not being able to enjoy a ballgame without having money on the line..........GOODLUCK Kid!

I feel bad for you Rockdat. Never, ever bet all in. I have been in your situation before and many times. Control your bet, same amount every game. If you are cold, go to the blog and start reading at some of the handicapper here. They are good. When they get cold, move to another capper. Some excellent cappers here are bentleysport, gilmo, herbshack, just to name a few for mlb. For NBA, it will be someone else and so on. If you are betting for excitement, than you need to be betting $10. If you are trying to make money like some cappers here, you got to be discipline. In the long run, you will make money. And again with $8000, you could make a lot of money here as a starting bankroll. I would bet only $200 a game. Every week you could be up $1000. Slowly but surely. Take care dude! Take a couple days off and get head straight up.

Listen, if there was ever a sign in your life to stop and change for the better, it was last night in the top of 9th when St. Louis scored 4 runs. I know it may be very difficult and you're caught in a cycle where you just don't care anymore and you just want to hit that one lick where you're even again and can stop, but the right thing to do is to cut your losses, and accept that that money is forever gone. Your betting will ruin the pure entertainment and excitement of sports as they are - I'm sure that was not your intention. Nobody, and I mean nobody in the world will take control of this situation but you. You have your whole life ahead of you and can choose to just stop and go on living your life by doing your job, spending time with family and friends and just being happy. Cancel your credit cards, or do whatever you physically need to do to prohibit your addiction. Don't watch sports anymore, don't come on this website, do whatever it takes. It can, and will get better. Don't focus on your life as it is, but what it can and one day will be.
I won't wish you luck because even though I have no idea who you are, I believe in you and I know that there won't be luck involved in doing the right thing and changing your life for the positive.
Go for a walk outside and take everything in.
