The Phillies have really struggled as of late and scoring just 3 runs in the first two games of the series there is some cause for concern considering they are now going up against the leagues best pitcher in Lincecum. Lincecum has been dominant as he's 4-0 wiht 27 IP and a 1.00 ERA in 4 starts this year. He has a 1.24 ERA in his last 4 starts vs. the Phillies with 32K's in 29 IP. The Phillies have a .233 average scoring just 3.53 R/9 in their last 10 games vs. RHP. The bullpen has been dominant to back up Lincecum with a 1.82 ERA in their last 10 games averaging 3IP. The Phillies on the other hand have a pitching problem of their own starting with the bullpen that has a 6.00 ERA over the last 10 games. Cole Hamels makes the start and boy has he struggled especially on the road and during the day. Day starts a year ago Hammels had a 5.44 ERA. The Giants are scoring 6.75 runs per 9 innings at home and batting .348 vs. LHP. Hamels in 3 starts in San Fran has gone 19 innings giving up 24 hits 7 BB and 13 ER for a 6.16 ERA. Phillies have gone 3-8 in their last 11 meetings with the Giants. 

And if all this wasn't enough...

Cole Hamels last year in day games was 0-7.

Hamels will exit SF with a 1-7 day game record going back to last year. Phils will get to lay what looks like a very very rare L and even rarer ,HL,on the freak today. IF SF wins,it will only be by one run,so do not RL this one with the fav. Best Bet is RL with the Phils!!

How can you say with any confidence that IF the Giants win it will be by only one run? Let's see, in game 1 they got 5 off the best pitcher in baseball ( Halladay ), and in game 2 the worst pitcher in baseball ( Wellemeyer ) 3 hit the Phillies.

If I were to look at that, I would see that the Giants are hitting and the Phillies are not. The Phillies have had 9 hits in 2 games. Facing Lincecum is not an ideal way to get your bats out of a funk.

Runlne with the Phillies is not the best bet. If you are confident why would you not take the plus money?

I am confident and I did take the ML Phils. Just saying for those not confident,Phils ,if they lose, will go dwon by 1. Same thing i said and did yesterday when I posted about the Orioles yesterday.

I cannot go agst with the law of averages here on Hamels' 0-7 day record and the Freaks unbeaten string to open the season and the Phils losing 3 in a row.

GL Chowin. Hamels in the day and Lincecum any time are poles apart and I just felt the better play/value was the ML.

Well Syds, we were both right. More you than me to be honest!! I should have ,in major hindsight,gone with the Freak 1st five. That will be my play for a while when he comes up in the rotation. Shit, all my betting may turn to 1st five,what with the complete lack of elbows in the majors!! Hamels,in essence,is now 0-8 in day games dating back to last year. Bettin is so cruel in these instances,which happen more often than anyone would imagine. Hope the rest of your card is a winner tonite.

Im actually going to have a look at first 5 innings also. Too many good pitchers ( Lincecum, Greinke to name two classic examples ) are being robbed by their bullpen, or in Lincecum's case today, his manager and closer. 

Even worse today was that Werth's hit that tied it up was on a 2 out full count. Why not walk him and pitch to Ibanez who has been hitting like shit this season?

Bochy fucked this game up completely.
