Congrats to all and BOL the rest of the week or next week depending upon your book!
Close calls. NYY cannot keep their bat on their shoulder when the pitch is that damn close. Less you forget the strange call early in the game when the 1B ump took a run off the board. Some bad calls perhaps both ways here.

I bet Boston and you can not tell me both teams got the same strikezone tonight. Too close are you serious the k zone showed they were 6 inches off the plate. If you have every played baseball you would know that it is reaction. Everyone say swing at the pitch if it is a strike, but if you know its a ball you do not swing. You can tell yourself all you want to swing at anything close, but when you know it is a ball your just do not swing

LOL... dude I played two years of college baseball before I got my scholarship yanked so yeah I know a little about baseball. I also know that you are 4 runs down on the road in a game where at least you believe you are getting squeezed so let me ask you this baseball genius... why do you just sit there and watch the ball pass any where near the strike zone given the above factual situation? Yeah that is what I though no good reason. You at least put the bat and the ball and foul it off if you cannot get a good swing on the pitch but in no case do you sit there and take strike three. Now if it was a 3-2 pitch I could understand but that was not the case for either.

Jerson these pitchers are throwing in the mid 90's and as a hitter you are programmed for the strikezone if you have a good eye. You have very little time to make up your mind. When you identify it will be a ball its reaction that happens so fast you do not swing at it. Obviously you never faced a pitcher throwing in the 90's lol

I agree with what you said above. My point is that even though I have not faced many (there were a couple) that throw like an MLB player the bottom line is given how the game unfolded you cannot go down looking. You have to put up a fight. So while I might agree that perhaps the strike zone was slight (not 6 inches) wider than most of the game you cannot take a pitch that close. Period. If you disagree so be it we can agree to disagree. But again I do agree with your above post. BOL!

Jerson where you play at South Dakota ST? I just say that because i saw you were living in South Dakota by your location. I know what your saying about swinging close but you gotta realize how many umps have you ever seen call strikes like that on the Yankees? It was really hard for them to adjust and they never did. I am just saying the strikezone looked very one sided to me. We have both played in games like this if you have played all the way through college and you know how it is. CC got nothing close.

Thats cool so do you ever go and watch games still? Ya I hate umps that do not call it the same both ways. Trust me I do not feel sorry for the Yanks they usually get a shrinked zone and the benefit of most of the calls. All I know is I watched a game tonight where the zone was not that same for both teams. Do not get me wrong Beckett threw a hell of a game, but he got a lot of strikes called off the plate that put him ahead in the count and not behind. We know how big that is in baseball.

No not really... SDSU and USD are not even in the same conference anymore. Honestly SDSU is a good team to watch these days. When I played were were in the same conference and we made them our bi%ch year after year. This year SDSU has gone into Iowa and sweep them in a double header and beat UNL (among others). This team also has five players were were draft in the top five rounds of the MLB amature draft last year. I am hoping to catch a game to two this year with them but if you follow college baseball most games are played during the week during the day. Not to many evening or weekend games so with my job and other activites it is hard to get to a game. I haven't been to a USD game since I graduated from law school some going on 8 years ago.
On last thing about umps... they do respond to the heat of the moment and the home crowds. Again not shocked that the home plate ump might be quick to run up a NYY sitting on a close (realitively speaking) pitch when they are down 4 runs on the road. Congrats and I too am happy we both cashed. BOL tomorrow!
