Is Bruce Bochy the biggest moron in baseball history?

How in the world do you not start Bumgardner on short rest? He's 25 years old and a big strong guy he's a beast and even if he can only go 4 innings he will put up 4 zeros allowing the giants to get an early lead. If they are down early they will not come back against the royals bullpen. 

so instead you start a washed up 39 year old pitcher that has no stuff. He just hopes you hit it right at someone. did bochy not learn his lesson after starting Peavy the old guy that is the worst pitcher in MLB playoff history. 

Bochy has been out coached badly and this decision to not start bumbardner will go down as one of the worst ever. How many game 7s do you get a chance to play in? 

In all my life i have never seen a bigger blunder than this one. Tim Hudson is a guarantee loser in this matchup. He's a god awful pitcher.

2 days rest is not enough to start a pitcher coming off a CGSO.

what do you think bumgardner thinks? He said it himself pitch counts and days rests are overrated and mean nothing when your young! I know baseball and this is a big mistake. If he's a available out of the bullpen than start him let him go 4 innings throw up 4 zeros and get an early lead. He is more used to starting and coming out of the bullpen doesn't always work. they are literally throwing away the world series if he does not come in very early in game.

Dude, as soon as Hudson is in trouble, he will get yanked. And in a game where adjustments are vital, Bochy>>>>>Yost.

the problem is everyone and their brother knows in a hitters ball park like KC Hudson is gonna get shelled in the 1st inning. He pitches to contact cuz he has awful stuff at almost 40 years old. Just start bumgardner if he's available in the pen he's available to start give you 3 or 4 scoreless innings take the crowd out of the game get an early lead. major mistake by bochy.

I would start Bum but ONLY 2 innings of almost guaranteed shutout ball and see if your offense can get some run support. Regardless of if they do or not start playing the bullpen at the 3rd, it's the last game of the season you could have all your starters pitch an inning if you wanted to. I say either start Mad bum or don't play him at all

It would be different if you had a decent option to start the game but Hudson has almost a 9 ERA in the last few months when pitching on 5 days or less rest. He has only pitched ok when he's had 9 days rest! Even then his ERA is 3.72 not exactly dominating. 

Its the definition of insanity to pitch another old washed up pitcher that is old enuff to be most of these guys fathers in game 7 when you have the best post season pitcher in baseball begging you to let him pitch. He's not like most pitchers he's a big strong guy he can handle it. What do you think he meant when he said he could throw 200 pitches today? he was taking a shot at this crazy notion that somehow he won't have good stuff on two days rest.

You don't know baseball if you don't know routine, and you don't know manager confidence.  Great managers make decisions that impact the confidence of their team.  If he scratches a scheduled pitcher another just because it's game 7, then the team will feel that lack of confidence.  The fact is, an ace can only perform well vs another team for so long.
A pitching rotation must be followed or teams lose confidence and forfeit their momentum.  The Red Sox put in Pedro in the 2003 NLCS as last resort relief, over the bullpen, and it was a disaster albeit him being their ace.  Putting in Bum as a starter would be certain death.

HAHAHAHA that is the best comment ever. Putting in Bum as a starter would be certain death!! Yeah the team would lose confidence seeing the best pitcher any of them have eve played with and one with a 0.29 ERA in the postseason. If you polled the players privately what percentage do you think would say they would rather have Hudson on the mound with 5 days rest or Bumgartner on the mound on two days rest you would get 100 percent return voting for Bum to pitch. Cmon man you want your best horses in the biggest games. Routine means nothing in a game 7 you do what you have to do to win the game. maybe the giants will overcome this and somehow win but the odds of that happening and way lower starting Tim Hudson an awful pitcher at this point in his career.

I imagine Hudson will be in same boat as Peavy last night, may be even on a tighter leash. If he so far looks to fart towards 2nd baseman he might be taken out. Depends on the wind direction I suppose.

Exactly!!!! IF Michael Jordan was a pitcher do you think he would not be pitching in this game? He would go to his coach and say if you don't put me on the mound I will request a trade after the season this is a joke! Two days rest is no biggie for a guy with this kinda arm. His throwing motion is so effortless. He is not Strasburg. 

Bochy making an all time blunder hopefully for his sake the offense will bail him out.

The only stupid part was pitching Bumgardner the WHOLE game in game 5. Bochy should have pulled him after 6 innings to have him ready to go in game 7 if needed. You can't start him tonight!

No the point is it would be easy money if Bumgarner pitched than you bet your house on giants. with hudson the line is right kc a favorite but its not a game you bet a ton on because the giants are gamers and they may score some runs and overcome bochy's senior moment. 

and you can start him on two days rest just like many other stud pitchers have done in the past. He doesn't have to go deep just give giants a chance to quiet the crowd and get an early lead. with Hudson that can not happen because he is as bad as peavy. 

Bumgarner is the reason they are hear so give him the ball!
