Cleveland's recent rut has been mostly due to an offense that is batting .225 and averaging 3.3 runs over the past 22 contests. The Guardians have totaled three runs during their current three-game skid -- which has come entirely at home, where they are 31-14.
"You know the bats are going to come back, it's just part of baseball," Guardians pitcher Ben Lively told the club's official website.
Cleveland aims to get back on track while facing what is likely to be a bullpen day for Detroit on Tuesday. The Tigers, whose rotation has been hit with injuries of late, had not named a starter for the matchup as of late Monday night.
Meanwhile, Cleveland's Xzavion Curry (R) (0-2, 5.19 ERA) is slated to make his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on July 12. The right-hander, who threw 1 1/3 innings of relief that same day, is 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in three major league starts this season.
Curry has a 3.27 ERA without a decision in two career starts against the Tigers, in 2022 and 2023.

New York Mets right-hander Luis Severino made headlines Friday when he jokingly said he was not concerned about the New York Yankees because they only possess two hitters, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge.
The Mets will open the set with Jose Quintana (L) (4-6, 4.13 ERA), who is coming off his worst outing in more than two months. After going 3-0 with an 0.89 ERA in his previous five starts, Quintana was tagged for four homers and five runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Colorado Rockies on July 14.
Quintana is 3-3 with a 2.97 ERA in eight career appearances (seven starts) against the Yankees.
After Carlos Rodon struck out 10 and allowed two hits and one run in seven innings on Monday, rookie Luis Gil (R) (10-5, 3.17 ERA) will start for the Yankees on Tuesday.
Gil went 1-1 in his past two starts despite giving up only two runs on nine hits to go along with 16 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings. In his three starts before those two efforts, Gil was 0-3 with a 14.90 ERA. He was tagged for five runs in 4 1/3 innings in the second of those three outings, on June 26 in his lone career appearance against the Mets.

The Giants are set to send right-hander Jordan Hicks (R) (4-6, 3.79) to the mound Tuesday. Hicks has not earned a win in any of his last nine starts, going 0-5 with a 5.57 ERA in that stretch. In two July starts, he is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA (9 1/3 innings).
Hicks has a 1.23 ERA without record a decision in nine career appearances (two starts) against Los Angeles.
