Rays -135, Kazmir/Moore
Hard to lay -136 versus Kazmir but he is not off to a particularly hot
start and owes his 2 quality starts to the Padres and Marlins. Unfortunately
for him the qs versus the Marlins as his offense got shut out by Nicolino.
Tonight the Dodgers face a better lefty than Nicolino, Moore, whose whole
career has been a struggle, but he looks like he is finally coming around and
perhaps living up to his potential. The Dodgers have 1 quality performance
versus a lefty in 7 tries and a pathetic 2.23 oera. On the other hand, the Rays
hit lefties surprisingly well, with a quality performance in 4 of their last 6
versus lefty and an oera of 7.79 in those games.
Twins +137, Meyer/McHugh
I hate to back a guy in his first start because you never know what you
are going to get, but McHugh and the Astros have no business being favored over
anyone at this time. McHugh has struggled so far with only 2 quality starts in
his first 5 attempts and his offense has struggled as well, with only 5 quality
efforts in their last 15 versus righty and an oera of 3.34, while the Twins
counter with 9 qs and a 4.79 oera.
