A couple of years ago I would have sworn on a Bible there would never
come a day when I would back Rick Porcello on the run line, but oh, how times
change, and rapidly. Yesterday’s results pale quickly as players and teams get
radically better or worse. Such is the case here, with Porcello finally hitting
his stride as a major league pitcher and the Yankees fielding their worst team
in a generation, Overall the Yankees are playing just .346 ball and their
offensive production has dropped to a dismal 33.0 on my scale versus the MLB
benchmark of 36. Over the course of their last 15 versus righty they have shown
only 4 quality performances and are on an 0-7 run that has seen them produce a
1.09 per 9 inning oera. At this point in the season the Red Sox are the class
of the division and have turned in 9 quality performances in their last 15
versus righty with a whopping 6.48 oera. Porcello alone is worth 60 cents of
line value over Pineda. What is there to like about the Yankees? Nothing but
their old reputation they can’t live up to anymore.
May have more later but I want to get this one in early as I cannot
believe this line will hold up.

I am not entirely done with that one but it looks like the Twins pose a threat and the total looks a little high at 9. I will probably pass on the side and won't play the total without umpire information. BOL

Yankees were just pathetic last night as they managed to accumulate just four hits and zero runs over eleven innings. Have to agree with you Key, I don't see much changing tonight.

When Tanaka gives them 8 innings of shutout ball and they can't score that does not bode well for the next 4 days, because they don't have anyone else that can do thet for them.

To be fair Gausman was dealing, hitting 96mph in 7th inning. Britton's relief work was stellar

I remember last year Porcello had a decent stretch where he threw some damn fine games. Yet, people still viewed him as a gas can during that time. I believe it was when he came back from injury. Any who...

its an obvious play on rsox with that said it gives me concern with this division game. yanks finally back home dont like the game spot but the numbers r hard to ignore. in a previous comment sumone mentioned 4 players success vs porcello, even if those guys do well it might only b 2-3 runs tops and u need 5-7 runs to beat the rsox tonight and pineda has to b great aswell I dont c both of those things happening. keyelement buddy I hit with u in the rline parlay on laa/nats cpl days ago I will have rsox/wsox/miami/detroit/a's/cavs mlines in my robin tonight and a seperate rsox rline/cavs/wsoxml parlay $$$ night great pitchers key we got quite a few matchups to exploit tonight.

Hi KeyElement thanks for your insight. A couple things worry me about your selection tonight, perhaps you can ease my mind.
I know Porcello has found his stride and he's getting a ton of ground balls however these career numbers against him concern me giving -1.5 tonight:
You pretty much nailed it all right there. "Career versus" is one of my least favorite stats, especially as it is often in conflict with with how the given players are likely to play on this given day. Current form is far more important and right now Porcello is performing above his career stats and the guys you mention are below, at least as far as productivity is concerned. He has already shut them out once this year, went 1-1 against them last year with an era of 2.81 and ll else is ancient history. He is ascending, they are falling apart.

I didn't get into the subject of Pineda, but since the discussion is lively I will play my trump card. I have Pineda with a slight decline is skills so far his year and he takes a 59.7 rating into this game, with the benchmark being 64. How to like him versus the Sox far above average offense is beyond me. I darn sure, for sure, don't like a sub par righty against a team that is 16-8 versus righty.

Dodgers-Blue Jays, Under 4, First 5
Innings, +101, Maeda/Stroman
I hate to play an under with the umpire unknown and in a hitter’s park,
but I don’t see any alternative. What we have here are two great pitchers and
two offenses completely unfamiliar with them. They didn’t even see each other
in spring training as the Dodgers were Cactus League and the Jays Grapefruit.
That works entirely in the pitcher’s favor since he is the guy who has ahold of
the ball. It takes at least once through the order to get any idea at all what
to do the second time around and by the third time the 5 inning matchup is
over. This one should be pure pitcher’s duel, possibly even more boring for
fans of offense than last night’s Yankees-Orioles matchup.
