I think the books
were pretty accurate with the opener of Royals -107, but the fans like the
Marlins and of course home field advantage.
Reds +104, Holland/Straily
By the time he
retires Derek Holland may hold the record for number of times on and off the DL
by a starting pitcher. What the fans are betting here though is the Rangers
prominence, because Dan Straily is today a far better pitcher than Holland was
before his last trip to the DL. The Reds offense also holds a slight edge here,
so I think we have a false favorite.
Rockies, RL, -1.5, +132,
Gray/Anderson
First night on the
road can be tough after a home stand, but the Rockies hold all the advantages
tonight. Gray over Anderson is a piece of cake and the Rockies offense, home
or away, is far superior to the Brewers. HFA holds the line down and makes
the run line playable.

I really like Ventura today as well at Miami; the one concern is the Interleague angle and the loss of the DH but Yost is strong at mixing and matching...the pitching match up is very good for KC and they are playing like Champions right now
Totally agree on Straily and I especially like the Value here
Situationally, I like Anderson and the Brewers today...they delivered a feelgood 9th inning win on Sunday at Seattle, won yesterday, and can carry this feeling thru this series...as measured by WHIP, Anderson is better than Gray in the near-term
I have added Manaea and Freidrich today strictly as value plays

Re: Loss of the D.H. in an N.L. Park. Sorry, I know many won't agree, but it is no big deal because the A.L. pitcher(s) picks up the opposite and equal advantage, he does not face a D.H., an advantage he normally doesn't have, and one that proportionately increases his performance probability. Imho it's a wash. Right now I have Ventura rated 12.5 points higher than Cashner, which is about 68 cents worth of line value, more than enough to compensate for loss of the D.H. and HFA combined, since Ventura has been facing DH's and Cashner has not.

I like the Royals as well! But, you're wrong. The public is all over the Royals, not the Fish. No idea where you keep getting your consensus numbers. You seem to be wrong about it often!
