MM, congrats on the mlb job, any specs on what and where you can or want to share? Just want to feed my envy and jealousy more.
My dad drank a lot, and got gout, which added years to his life, because he had to stop drinking or loose a foot. However, one thing that I'll add, that may or may not help your dad. My Dad started to juice everything in sight, and drank himself healthy again. He would mix veg with fruit, etc. whatever was in the frig. He didn't know it, but liquid vitamins are absorbed something like 50% more than pills. My wife has a health condition, and she swears by the liquid vitamins she buys in a bottle. They are not as concentrated, so you have to drink a lot, and the store bought bottles can get expensive. But if your dad gets out of the woods, and you could not only convince him to do this, and get him to do it, and keep at it, he might just gain a few years. Liquid vitamins, anyway you can get them in your body is the fastest way to get out of the malnutrition drinking causes (because he gets all his calories from that, and not whole foods). Just my 2 cents.

doctors, pharmacists, bla, bla, bla... If we could all just eat better, they would have to all start digging ditches for a living. I just finished off a "too large a pie" of key lime pie, and I am paying for it. I've had a garden for about 20 years. stays warm in tampa bay during our winters, the cold season veggies love it, and we are definitely all healthier when we eat what we grow, fresher, more vitamins, no pesticides, etc. And I have chickens now (in the city), eat fresh eggs daily. Not everybody can do this, But cutting back on the booze, and even just not eating fast foods is a start. Just got to break the lifestyle somehow, someway. My Dad had the hell scared out of him, maybe this will jump start your dad to eating better.

I'm going to be watching baseball all day/night while I work. If something important or awesome happens, it's my job to make sure it's available to everyone in a matter of moments. Not too shabby.
