Rays & Pirates: The principal behind both picks is almost the same thing. Archer and Cole are far ahead of Fister and Samardzija at this point in the season and with 14 and 13 starts in, respectively, I can feel my numbers are true and accurate. The line value of each of these two, respectively, over their opponents is 117.5 and 83.5, no contest. If we get an established, average performance from the four guys involved we will cash two more tickets, regardless of any other factors. I have passed on taking the run line on the Rays because of their low scoring ability, but the Pirates have a significant offensive advantage and winning by two should not be a problem.
