&#xA; &#xA;The concept of bunting teammates over is lost with these MLB managers. They should literally spend all spring season teaching these ball players the art of bunting. I grew up watching guys like Brett Butler who helped manufacture runs. It&#x27;s no longer a focus..

I was talking to a div 1 college baseball coach few months ago said it is lost art. Said if u have a kid who is fast, decent contact hitter, can bunt and has good glove said that kid has shot to make aLiving playing baseball

Man... Brett Butler may be the best bunter I've ever seen!

That dude could drop a bunt anytime, anywhere!

A great bunt is almost as exciting as a homerun... Maybe more now, with the supersaturation of homeruns throughout baseball.

(Wonder what the ratio is of bunt singles to HR)?

Used to be, you knew who had homerun potential in the lineup, and you'd get excited at the opportunity to see one leave the yard. Now anybody holding a bat can pop one because of the juiced ball. Really lame

Not sure why u are complaining....Padres had their closer Brad Hand in and Dbacks had noone else to pitch if they did tie it up as Jeff Mathis was coming back out to pitch if they tied it... Dbacks were trying to win it and by bunting runner over they are giving away outs.  It would be still tough to score on Hand with 1 out and runner on 3rd.  It was so or die that inning for the Dbacks to win it.

I have no idea why they pay MLB coaches. What exactly are they teaching these guys? They can&#x2019;t bunt, they can&#x2019;t hit to the opposite field, they can&#x2019;t properly run the bases, they don&#x2019;t understand the concept of hitting the cutoff man....My guess would be they assume if these guys got this far, they already know these fundamentals. Bad assumption. Instead they now teach them about launch angles &amp; exit velocity.

if you were wathing the game the signs were there in the 12th inning the diamondbacks were gonna run out of pitchers before their bats were gonna get a hit. and the padres had hand in the back pocket. a live hedge would have been the best play saved my ass
